At the 2025 Tokyo Game Show, Pawprint Studio showed off some of the creatures players will encounter in their new open-world action RPG, Aniimo. When the game was first announced, many people compared it to Pokemon and Palworld. However, the developers of Aniimo believe their game has enough unique features to appeal to fans of both those popular titles.
Aniimo was unveiled at the Xbox Games Showcase in June as a creature-collecting game taking place in the world of Idyll. What sets it apart from similar games is its incredibly realistic graphics, designed to fully immerse players. Players take on the role of a Pathfinder who can form a deep connection – called “twining” – with the Aniimo they find. This allows them to transform into creatures, explore the vast world, fight battles, and use each animal’s special skills.
Aniimo Gives a Look at Some More Unique Creatures
We first saw some of the game’s creatures when it was originally announced, and even more were revealed during a closed beta test in June. But at the Xbox Tokyo Game Show on September 25th, we shared even more of these creatures, called Aniimo, with fans. One of these is Stellaris, which is an evolved version of Celestis, a flying squirrel. The trailer shown at the Tokyo Game Show featured Stellaris’s unique Rainy Form – a version that only appears when a wild Celestis evolves during a rainy day.
The trailer also showed a Helgon flying and battling a group of Helmuts. Normally, Helmuts evolve into Rookguards, but if they fight an evolved Helgon-called an Infregon-they’ll become Pawneys instead. A new, white, electric-type Ignitis was also briefly shown, and players will get a chance to see it in the next *Aniimo* beta test. In that same scene, viewers might have spotted the new Snowfield Forms of Skippy, Pranky, and Glacy, which appear when these creatures are in cold, snowy areas.
While a specific release date for *Aniimo* hasn’t been announced, you can pre-register now, and it’s currently planned for release in 2026. The game will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PC, Xbox Cloud, and mobile devices. *Aniimo* shares similarities with games like *Palworld* and *Pokémon* in its creature designs, but the developer, Pawprint Studio, is working to make it a unique experience. They’re also using feedback from beta testing to improve gameplay.
