As a longtime Twitch viewer and follower of InvaderVie, I have been following her streams for quite some time now. Her unique charm and engaging personality have always made her stand out among other streamers on the platform. However, the constant bans she receives from Twitch leave me feeling frustrated and confused.
Twitch has suspended the account of InvaderVie, a well-liked broadcaster boasting over 374K followers, for the tenth time. Notable on Twitch for her Just Chatting sessions where she interacts with viewers, InvaderVie also occasionally streams popular games such as “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim,” “Animal Crossing: New Horizons,” and “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.”
Twitch, the top live streaming service, is known for its stringent community rules and unwavering enforcement, regardless of a user’s following count. For instance, Twitch banned Nickmercs, a well-known streamer boasting over 6.7 million followers, for employing a disparaging term towards transgender people. Nonetheless, not every Twitch ban is met with agreement; streamers often criticize the platform’s uneven application of rules, leaving even Twitch’s CEO uncertain in some instances. (May 2023)
On July 19, Twitch handed out ban number 10 to InvaderVie. This is her sixth ban of the year, making her one of the most frequently banned streamers on Twitch. All her bans have been short-lived, with the longest lasting only five days from June 12 to June 17. However, the cause for her latest exclusion from the platform remains a mystery, leaving her fans baffled and displeased. They took to the Twitter announcement’s comment section to voice their confusion and annoyance, inquiring about the reasons behind the repeated bans and Twitch’s decision-making process.
Twitch Has Unbanned InvaderVie
It’s intriguing that some spectators believed Twitch would lift the ban promptly, and indeed, their foresight proved correct as she was reinstated the following day. This turn of events brings relief to both the streamer and her supporters. However, it remains a question whether she will reveal the particular reasons for the ban during her upcoming broadcast.
Streamers have expressed worries over Twitch’s ban policies, and Twitch CEO Dan Clancy acknowledged in April the necessity of enhancing the platform’s ban notification system. He highlighted the significance of giving creators explicit feedback to assist them in recognizing their errors and preventing recurring issues.
