As a long-time Pokemon fan with countless hours invested into the franchise, I’m always eagerly anticipating any new announcements or updates from The Pokemon Company. Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 20 is shaping up to be an exciting event for us enthusiasts, as The Pokemon Company has confirmed their attendance.

As an avid Pokémon fan, I’m thrilled to share that we have something exciting to look forward to on August 20! That’s the date for Gamescom Opening Night Live, Europe’s equivalent of E3 or Summer Game Fest. If you’re not familiar with this event, think big announcements and reveals – Gamescom has a history of delivering major Pokémon news! The main event runs from August 21 to 25, but the action starts early with a special presentation by none other than Geoff Keighley, the host of The Game Awards. So mark your calendars, fellow trainers! Let’s stay tuned for more Pokémon goodness coming our way.

At one of the largest gaming events of the year, numerous prominent companies present their forthcoming offerings. Notably absent from this year’s Gamescom are some industry giants. It’s official that Sony’s PlayStation will not participate, and Nintendo won’t be in attendance either. However, a related company representing Nintendo has been confirmed for the event.

According to the Gamescom Twitter account’s confirmation, The Pokemon Company is set to attend this year’s Gamescom. Although it’s uncertain if there will be a Pokemon announcement during the Opening Night Live on August 20, the possibility exists. It’s possible that The Pokemon Company’s participation in Gamescom may only include the physical event. Nevertheless, fans should remain hopeful and consider tuning into Opening Night Live as a small chance of a Pokemon announcement still exists.

At Gamescom, The Pokemon Company may reveal what they have in store, whether it’s something new to announce during Opening Night Live or not. Several live-service Pokemon games could be showcased, including Pokemon GO, Pokemon Sleep, and Pokemon Unite. Many Pokemon enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for more information about the upcoming Switch game, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which has thus far only been introduced through a CG trailer. It’s possible, though not very likely, that The Pokemon Company will use Gamescom to unveil Legends: Z-A.

Z-A game is set to come out in 2025. Consequently, we can expect trailers and updates about the game to become more frequent as the new year approaches. Historically, major Pokemon announcements have taken place during Pokemon Presents events, so it’s unlikely that the game will be showcased at Gamescom. However, Pokemon is expected to make an appearance at Gamescom in some capacity, but the specifics of what will be displayed and if it will include Opening Night Live on August 20th remain uncertain.
