How to Get Tungsten Ore

As a seasoned explorer with years of experience under my belt, I can tell you that Tungsten is without a doubt a prized metal in the world of mining and industry. Its strength and value are unmatched, making it a must-have resource for any serious miner or engineer.

In the Red Sands area, Tungsten has the greatest abundance, but it’s also present in other parts of the game.

Tungsten and aluminum ores share many similarities and are often discovered in the same locations, making it challenging to tell them apart at first glance. However, with careful examination, some key differences can be identified: Aluminum ores generally have a lighter hue compared to tungsten ores which possess a darker color. Over time and experience in mining these resources, distinguishing between the two becomes more effortless.

Find some Tungsten ore in your surroundings, then go closer to it and press the assigned key (F is the standard) to collect it. Mine the Tungsten ore with your Alloy Pickaxe to obtain as much of it as possible.

How to Craft an Alloy Pickaxe

Unfortunately, mining Tungsten requires an Alloy Pickaxe, which is made of a strong metal different than Copper or Steel. To create this pickaxe, you’ll need to access the Memetics menu, unlock the Memetic for Alloy Pickaxes under Tier 4 of the Infrastructure Tab, and follow the necessary steps.

  • Access your Intermediate Supplies Workbench and select Alloy Pickaxe from available options.
  • Click on “Craft” or press F to initiate the crafting process.
  • Wait for 25 seconds and click on the Alloy Pickaxe from the crafting menu to add it to your inventory.
