Gearbox’s newest update for Borderlands 4 includes a lot of improvements, from bug fixes to gameplay balancing and even a wider field of view option for console players. But surprisingly, the most impactful change isn’t one of the bigger features-it’s a simple upgrade to Tediore weapons, giving them a significant boost across the entire game.
In the world of *Borderlands*, each weapon manufacturer is unique, and Tediore has often been the subject of jokes. Both within the game and among players, Tediore guns are usually seen as lower quality. However, the September 2025 update for *Borderlands 4* has dramatically increased their power, which greatly impacts how their signature throw-and-explode mechanic works.
Borderlands 4 Update Starts Tediore’s Redemption Arc
The latest update includes a 10% damage and magazine size increase for all Tediore weapons. This change particularly benefits ‘Chuck’, a unique Legendary assault rifle from *Borderlands 4* that’s known for its unpredictable nature. Chuck’s special ability, Pitcher, makes it function like a thrown grenade when fired. While the increased magazine size isn’t fully utilized by this feature, the extra damage is significant. With the right equipment, Chuck can be incredibly powerful.
You can get Chuck by defeating Fractis, the boss of Crawlcroft in Carcadia Burn, which is one of the Order Bunkers in *Borderlands 4*.
That’s because Chuck works particularly well on Vault Hunters like Borderlands 4‘s Rafa, due to his Grenazerker class mod. Grenazerker spawns an additional grenade or thrown Tediore gun when equipped, and it can transform Chuck into a centerpiece for a seriously wild, seriously strong build. The damage buff gives any Vault Hunter using Chuck even more room to scale, though, especially in content where crowd control and burst damage are essential.
New Borderlands 4 Update Is A Huge Win for Console Players

Though the recent update heavily focuses on changes to Tediore weapons, a welcome addition for console players is the new Field of View (FOV) slider. Players on Xbox and PlayStation have been asking for this feature since the game launched, and it’s a big improvement because the default FOV often made the game feel too close-in and restrictive.
Gearbox noted that increasing FOV can cause performance dips for Borderlands 4 on consoles.
For many, this update makes the title playable on console in a way it wasn’t before. Expanding the view not only makes the player feel faster but also enhances overall visibility, especially in chaotic firefights. While Borderlands 4‘s performance issues remain a thorn in the side of many players, the option to fine-tune FOV is a much-needed step forward.
Other Borderlands 4 Weapon Adjustments

Tediore weapons aren’t the only ones seeing improvements. The Hellwalker Legendary shotgun now always drops in the fire element instead of kinetic, trading in universal appeal for greater value in specific use cases. Meanwhile, the Fisheye Legendary sniper rifle received a straightforward damage increase. Though perhaps not as big a win as Tediore, these changes support Gearbox’s new approach to Borderlands 4’s balance, one focused on buffing the weak instead of nerfing the strong.
Borderlands 4‘s Weekly Activities also saw their rotation updated, with the weekly Big Encore Boss changed to Core Observer in the Fadefields. The Weekly Wildcard mission reward is the Symmetry Legendary sniper rifle, and Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine has also shifted locations once again. This time, it can be found in Carcadia Burn, not too far from the region’s Primordial Vault.

Future Borderlands 4 Updates Should Take Notes
While balancing weapons is key, this update also addresses many fixes players felt were crucial for the game to thrive. It improves stability, tackling frustrating problems like stuttering and crashes, and fixes bugs that were blocking players from completing missions. If Gearbox continues to release updates at this rate, *Borderlands 4* has a good chance of being a long-term success.
