Gearbox is Revealing Borderlands 4’s First New Vault Hunter Today
Gearbox announced on Steam that they’ll be revealing the first of two new playable characters for *Borderlands 4* at Tokyo Game Show 2025. This reveal, happening today at 10:30 PM Eastern Time, will focus on a character coming as part of paid Story Pack DLC. Currently, players enjoy Vex, Rafa, Harlowe, and Amon as Vault Hunters in *Borderlands 4*, and fans are eager to see how these new additions will expand the game’s variety and gameplay.
A recent post on X (formerly Twitter) from the official Borderlands account has fueled speculation about a new game feature. The post said they’re “giving you a peek at our hand,” and included a GIF of two cards partially buried in sand. Fans immediately wondered if this hints at a new Vault Hunter who uses cards as weapons, which would be a unique addition to the Borderlands series.
The official plan for *Borderlands 4* shows the first new playable character won’t arrive until the first three months of 2026, along with a story expansion called *Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned*. While it’s still a ways off, revealing the new character now is a smart move to get players excited about the upcoming content. Players who purchased the *Borderlands 4* Super Deluxe Edition will automatically receive both the story pack and the new character when they are released.
