As a long-time fan of the Tales series, I’ve played my fair share of JRPGs, but Tales of Xillia holds a special place in my heart. Released back in 2013 on PlayStation 3, this game has remained one of my favorites, and it’s always disappointed me that it hasn’t been made available on more modern platforms.
Based on recent reports, it seems that Bandai Namco is developing an enhanced edition of “Tales of Xillia.” This game is the thirteen instalment in the popular “Tales” series and is considered one of its finest entries. Initially launched as an exclusive for PlayStation 3 consoles worldwide, “Xillia” received a sequel within a year. Nevertheless, this cherished JRPG remains confined to the PS3 platform.
The acclaimed Role-Playing Game (RPG) for PS3, Tales of Xillia, hasn’t been updated with a contemporary release since its debut in 2013. Bandai Namco, the game’s publisher, has made an effort to maintain older games by reissuing them on newer platforms such as PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Surprisingly, some titles from the Tales series like Hearts R, Symphonia Chronicles, and Xillia 2, have been taken down from the PlayStation Store. However, there are signs suggesting that Tales of Xillia may be given a remastered edition for modern consoles.
On the r/tales subreddit, several posts were found promoting “Tales of Xillia Remastered” from different Czech/Slovak retailers. All these retailers are part of a single European parent company. The upcoming game is expected to release on PlayStation 4, 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S. Given the success of the “Tales of Symphonia Remastered” re-release, it’s reasonable to assume that “Tales of Xillia Remastered” will also be made available for PC.
Tales of Xillia Remastered Leak, Explained
The cover art seems suggestive of a temporary design, with its reuse of the “Tales of Xillia” key art, “art not final” labels on the images, and “Remastered” logo borrowing from “Tales of Symphonia Remastered.” A strong argument for this remaster’s authenticity is the exclusive European Article Numbers (EANs), which aren’t publicly listed but are registered to Bandai Namco. These EANs share similarities with other upcoming Bandai Namco titles, such as “Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero” and “Spy x Anya: Operation Memories.”
In other words, these clues strongly suggest that “Tales of Xillia” may be released outside of its PS3 exclusivity. This highly acclaimed game on the PS3 could benefit from a remastered version, expanding its reach to new players. However, it’s essential to remember that this is just speculation until Bandai Namco confirms any official news.
