McDonald’s Monopoly is Finally Coming Back, But There’s a Catch

McDonald’s is excited to announce the return of its famous Monopoly game for a short period. However, this version of the game will be smaller in scope compared to past events. The well-known fast-food restaurant frequently partners with various brands and franchises for promotions, featuring them in Happy Meal toys and special events. Last year, McDonald’s generated buzz with a limited-time promotion featuring Genshin Impact, and Pokemon has consistently been a key part of their collaborative efforts. Now, McDonald’s is reviving one of its most popular partnerships.

The partnership with Monopoly is one of McDonald’s most famous promotions, offering customers the opportunity to win prizes or get free food. McDonald’s has been running its Monopoly event, where fans collect game pieces with their food purchases, since 1987, but it hasn’t been consistently available. In fact, McDonald’s last held its Monopoly games in the U.S. in 2018. Now, the fast-food giant has officially announced that McDonald’s Monopoly is coming back globally, but there’s a key detail to know.

According to Dexerto, McDonald’s has finally announced that the popular Monopoly promotion is coming back next month. This time around, the McDonald’s Monopoly event will only be available through their mobile app. Players can collect game pieces in two ways: by earning them digitally within the app, or by collecting physical pieces and scanning them into the app to claim prizes. Some of the top prizes include a $50,000 vacation package and a $10,000 shopping spree. McDonald’s will officially begin the new Monopoly promotion on October 6th, but fans can pre-register now through the app to earn bonus rewards points.

McDonald’s Is Bringing Back its Monopoly Event

The McDonald’s Monopoly promotion is back, following some challenges McDonald’s has faced with recent partnerships. Pokemon collaborations, in particular, have caused some issues, as scalpers took advantage by ordering large quantities of the special trading card packs to resell them. McDonald’s even had to limit purchases during its latest Pokemon event in Japan, allowing customers to buy only three Happy Meals per group. The company also apologized to fans after the Pokemon items sold out on the first day at many locations.

McDonald’s has done a lot of collaborations, and some of them have been quite unexpected. Recently, McDonald’s China partnered with Game Science for a special event centered around their game, Black Myth: Wukong. This included unique items like a burger with a black bun. As part of this partnership, McDonald’s is also releasing a limited-edition Black Myth: Wukong board game. And next month, fans will be excited to see the return of McDonald’s Monopoly, a popular event that’s back for a limited time.
