Every Character Revealed For Riot Games' 2XKO

As a dedicated fan of fighting games, I’ve been keeping a close eye on Riot Games and their foray into the 2D realm with 2XKO. The hype surrounding this title has been palpable in the community, and the recent reveal at EVO 2024 only solidified my excitement.

As a passionate gamer, I’ve been keeping a close eye on Riot Games lately. Their foray into the 2D fighting genre with 2XKO has really piqued my interest. I’ve seen some stunning character reveals and enticing promotional materials, leaving me excited about this upcoming game, despite its somewhat puzzling name. The release is scheduled for 2025, and Riot has already given us a sneak peek into the roster, offering intriguing glimpses of how the fighter archetypes and early meta might unfold in 2XKO.

Over the last weekend of July, EVO 2024 offered a detailed and up-to-date preview of the new game, 2XKO. Participants had the chance to try out the game themselves during the event. Six characters were available in the demo, while Jinx and Katarina, who had earlier been hinted at but not yet confirmed for the game (when it was still known as Project L), were absent.

  • Braum
  • Darius
  • Ekko
  • Illaoi
  • Yasuo

2XKO’s Playable Roster Has Something For Everybody

Every Character Revealed For Riot Games' 2XKO

In terms of agile and mobile champions, 2XKO now boasts two impressive figures: Ekko and Ahri. Each character brings a unique style to the table, occupying distinct yet neighboring roles. Both Ekko and Ahri are masters of evasion and setup, exploiting their mobility to catch opponents off guard and initiate combos. Their toolkits include distinctive air dashes and ranged abilities.

Darius and Yasuo make up the group of mid-weight fighters on the 2XKO team, although their roles are somewhat ambiguous and hard to define. Yasuo primarily operates in the middle range, but he’s also agile and fast, along with his distinctive windwall ability that thwarts projectiles. By utilizing various stances and stance-changing effects on special moves, Yasuo players can catch opponents off guard, feinting attacks, exploiting incorrect inputs, making him a formidable adversary beyond just a typical mid-range swordsman. Darius stays in the mid-range fight as well, but he’s more about power than finesse. His devastating moves have a slow build-up and inflict the “Wounded” debuff on opponents. To compensate for his lack of agility, Darius uses his ax to pull enemies closer, thwarting escape attempts and setting up combos.

As a longtime fan of League of Legends and a dedicated player of the 2XKO team, I can’t help but be excited about their formidable roster of playable heavies. Having spent countless hours in the game’s arena, I can attest to the crowd control and damage mitigation prowess of both Illaoi and Braum.

Instead of “Braum, on the contrary, is the roster’s tank fighter with his powerful shield, known as a bulwark. His supportive moves come with hyper armor, enabling him to absorb hits without halting his attack. Additionally, Braum acquires the Unbreakable buff, covering his shield with ice and granting him hyper armor during this period. He currently stands alone as the fighter possessing any form of crowd control, employing a shield strike that can freeze adversaries. This creates opportunities for devious teamwork strategies.”

At EVO 2024, the presence of 2XKO was enlightening as Riot unveiled a playable demo and announced plans for its upcoming release. Following in the footsteps of popular games like Valorant, it will begin with a streamlined version, featuring a comparable monetization model and consistent content updates. Based on these indications, it’s expected that 2XKO may debut to the public around the first quarter of 2025, although no definitive launch date has been confirmed yet. With a potential roster boasting hundreds of characters and over a decade of rich lore and devoted fanbase, 2XKO is poised to become a formidable competitor in the highly competitive genre.
