The upcoming RTX 50 series GPUs have been the talk of the town lately, and the new information revealed by Seasonic’s power calculator has me even more hyped up.
A recent modification to Seasonic’s power calculator has brought to light fresh details about the upcoming Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 line of graphics cards, including their power consumption. Notably, these new Nvidia GPUs will keep a valuable characteristic from their predecessors in the RTX 40 series.
In March this year, Nvidia unveiled the Blackwell microarchitecture at its GPU Technology Conference keynote speech. Since then, there have been numerous rumors and anticipation about the upcoming RTX 50 series GPUs from Nvidia. Some reports indicated that the top-tier Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 would be released first, while others claimed it could be the RTX 5080. According to Videocardz.com’s latest update, Seasonic’s power calculator now includes thermal design power (TDP) values for the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards. These values are available as text downloads and cover the entire range from the high-end RTX 5090 with a TDP of 500W, an increase of 50W compared to its predecessor RTX 4090, to the entry-level RTX 5050. The 16-pin PCIe connector will remain a consistent feature for all 50 series cards. The RTX 5080 boasts a TDP of 350W, which is a 30W increase from the RTX 4080. Furthermore, the mid-range RTX 5070 comes with a TDP of 220W, a 20W increase over its RTX 40 series counterpart.
