This article contains spoilers from the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex will release a new chapter in October, but many fans are becoming impatient with the ongoing absence of Naruto Uzumaki, considering he’s widely regarded as the most powerful ninja ever. Even more concerning, there doesn’t seem to be any definite date for Naruto’s return, which is making the wait even harder to handle and more frustrating.
I think it’s understandable that the Boruto manga isn’t really about Naruto Uzumaki anymore, and it’s good to let Boruto and his generation take the spotlight. However, I can’t help but notice that Naruto’s presence feels especially important right now, especially with Boruto facing off against Jura and the Shinju Clones. Keeping Naruto on the sidelines feels like a gamble, but it looks like Kishimoto has a specific vision for where things are going.
Naruto Uzumaki’s Return Has No Clear Timeline
Naruto Uzumaki Is Still Sealed Away and Frozen in Time

- Naruto’s return in Boruto: TBV is still uncertain.
- Naruto has been sealed by Kawaki in the Daikokuten dimension since Boruto Part 1 Chapter 77.
Many fans are finding the wait for Naruto Uzumaki to return in Boruto frustrating, as there’s no indication of when-or if-it will happen. Currently, there’s no evidence suggesting Naruto will reappear, even in a flashback or in a way that impacts the problems Boruto is facing now. This continued absence is fueling fan speculation about what role he might play and what new abilities he could gain in the future.
Naruto Uzumaki and his wife, Hinata Hyuga, were sealed away in Chapter 77 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. While only a handful of people understand what really happened, most in Konoha think Boruto Uzumaki killed his father because of the unexpected consequences of Eida’s all-powerful ability. Now, Boruto and Kawaki have switched bodies, which has created a difficult and uncertain situation where it’s hard to know who to trust or even who is who.

While many fans are eager to see Naruto fight again, it’s still unclear when he’ll return. It wouldn’t be surprising if Masashi Kishimoto chose to bring Sasuke Uchiha back first, potentially pushing back Naruto’s return even further. Despite this, fans are staying optimistic, as the author often connects chapter numbers in a way that hints at Naruto potentially returning in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 77.
Kishimoto Will Release Sasuke Uchiha Before Naruto Uzumaki
Sasuke Uchiha Will Return After Hidari’s Death

Boruto and his friends were almost able to change Sasuke Uchiha back to normal after defeating the Shinju Hidari in Konoha. They even recovered Hidari’s Thorn-Soul Bulb, which viewers now understand is essential for reversing Sasuke’s transformation. However, Jura’s unexpected involvement made Boruto’s mission to save Sasuke much more difficult and risky.
Currently, Hidari has recovered and appears even more powerful. Importantly, the knowledge that his thorn soul bulb can free Sasuke gives a significant edge in the upcoming battle. As the conflict between the Shinju and Konoha intensifies, the fight to decide Sasuke’s fate is approaching faster than Naruto Uzumaki’s much-anticipated return.
I know this will likely get under your skin, but I want to consume Naruto Uzumaki—Jura to Kawaki
It’s becoming evident that Kishimoto is focusing on getting Sasuke free, as Hidari continues to play a significant role in the story. This suggests Naruto’s return will be saved for a more dramatic reveal later on. Furthermore, it looks like Kishimoto is planning a battle involving Hidari and another character – possibly Sarada or even Sakura – to build tension before Sasuke is rescued in the next story arc.
Kishimoto Will Eventually Release Naruto Uzumaki From Daikokuten
Boruto Still Needs Naruto Back

Even now, Naruto remains sealed within the Daikokuten dimension. Kawaki did this hoping to keep him safe from Code and the Otsutsuki Clan, who want to eliminate the strongest ninja. As a result, Naruto has been frozen in time, unable to learn new skills or help with the current conflict involving the Shinju. He’s essentially in a state of suspended animation, unaware of everything happening in Konoha.
Even so, fans believe that Masashi Kishimoto will ultimately bring Naruto Uzumaki back into the Boruto manga storyline. If the creator intended for Naruto’s story to be over, he wouldn’t have created so much mystery surrounding his current sealed condition, particularly now that Jura is intensely focused on absorbing Naruto’s power. As Jura gets closer, Naruto’s reappearance seems almost certain and fans are confident they will eventually see the payoff.
