The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Physical Deluxe Edition is Coming Out on October 13

Following a lot of discussion and several rumors, Bethesda has officially announced that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered will have a physical copy available starting October 13th. Bethesda shared the news on the social media platform BlueSky, using the official The Elder Scrolls account to confirm that the physical release will be the Deluxe Edition.

In a funny move, Bethesda announced the physical release of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered by presenting it as an item *within* the Oblivion Remastered game itself, shown on the inventory screen. The company wrote, “When you’ve cleared two goblin caves, an underwater shipwreck, and the entire town of Hackdirt, and you still can’t remember where you picked this item up,” playfully referencing how players often forget item locations.

Although the game’s release date is set, it’s still unclear if the physical copy will include a game disc, or if it will be a “Code in a Box” version – meaning you’ll only receive a code to download the game. This possibility came up earlier this month when a Reddit user who pre-ordered from PlayAsia noticed this might be the case. Reports suggest that the “Code in a Box” version will only be available in certain regions.

The report indicates that physical game discs will be available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in North America and Europe. However, players in all other regions will likely only receive download codes. This means they won’t be able to purchase a physical copy of the game. Source

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered’s Physical Deluxe Edition will come with the full game, plus bonus in-game items. These include new quests for the Akatosh and Mehrunes Dragon Armours, as well as weapon and Horse Armour sets. It also features the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansions, a digital artbook, and the game’s soundtrack. On top of all that, you’ll get a bunch of downloadable content like Fighter’s Stronghold, Spell Tomes, Vile Lair, Mehrune’s Razor, The Thieves Den, Wizard’s Tower, The Orrery, and the Horse Armor Pack.

This remastered version of an open-world RPG, originally released in 2006 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, has been very successful since it came out earlier this year. It was unexpectedly released in April and quickly gained over 4 million players. A report from July showed that the player base had grown to 9 million.

Since The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered came out, Bethesda and Virtuos have been consistently supporting it with updates. I’ve noticed they released one back in July that really focused on squashing a lot of the bugs that were still hanging around in the game. It’s good to see they’re still working on it!

After exploring two goblin caves, an underwater shipwreck, and completely clearing out the town of Hackdirt, and *still* drawing a blank about where you found this item… 🤔
