Oblivion Remastered Physical Edition Price Tag Surprises Fans

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is available in a physical Deluxe Edition that costs 33% less than the digital version, which has surprised a lot of players. While there were whispers about a different approach to selling the physical copy of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, the actual price difference is still quite unexpected for fans.

When Bethesda’s Oblivion Remastered surprisingly came out in April 2025, it quickly became the best-selling game on many platforms. It was also very popular on PlayStation 5, which was a big win for its developer, backed by Microsoft. However, despite doing well financially, Oblivion Remastered is now being offered at significantly reduced prices before it’s released on some platforms again.

Oblivion Remastered’s Physical Deluxe Edition Costs $40

You can now pre-order the physical Deluxe Edition of Oblivion Remastered, which will be released on October 13th. It’s surprisingly priced at just $40 USD at all stores. It’s worth noting that the standard digital version of the game, without any of the deluxe extras, costs $50, making the physical Deluxe Edition a better deal. This pricing is unusual for video games, but Bethesda Softworks has decided to offer it only six months after Oblivion Remastered first came out.

Oblivion Remastered Physical Deluxe Edition Content

  • Access to the digital artbook and soundtrack app
  • 6 distinctive weapons with Order and Cataclysm themes
  • Two unique mounts
  • Exclusive quest
  • Two special sets of armor (Cataclysm and Order)

Fans of Bethesda Softworks may remember a rumor from late September regarding a physical re-release of Oblivion Remastered. An industry source shared that the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions would be surprisingly affordable. They also stated that the PlayStation discs wouldn’t need any extra downloads, but the Xbox discs wouldn’t contain the complete game. Many people doubted these claims at the time. However, with the official price announced on September 29, it’s clear the discs are being sold for one of the lowest prices the remake has had since it was first released.

According to reports, certain stores started taking preorders for the Oblivion Remastered deluxe edition on disc as early as July 2025. If this is accurate, they might have to issue refunds to customers, because they probably charged $60 USD when the new price is $40. Currently, both the standard and deluxe digital versions of the game are on sale during Steam’s Autumn Sale. However, it’s not yet known if the $40 USD price will eventually be offered for the digital Deluxe Edition, or if the physical discs will remain the most affordable way to purchase the game.
