How to Beat Cloverpit (Bad and True 999 Endings)

If you’re curious about seeing the ending credits in Cloverpit, you have two ways to do it: you can get the “bad” ending, or aim for the 999 ending. Reaching either ending isn’t required to enjoy the game, but many players will want to unlock them. This guide is for those players, and it details how to complete Cloverpit and get both endings.

This guide isn’t about explaining how to get the highest scores or always finish on time in Cloverpit. Instead, it’s about the exact steps you need to take during a playthrough if you’re aiming for the bad ending, or the 999 ending.

How to Beat Cloverpit

Unlock the 4 Drawers

To start defeating Cloverpit, you need to unlock the four drawers located under the shop. You unlock these drawers using gold keys which show up in the box to the right of the ATM. Players can get one key per run. Keep in mind that the goal you need to reach to get a gold key gets harder each time you unlock a drawer, and you’ll need a score of 200,000 to get the final key.

Equip 4 Corpse Pieces & Skull

Once all four drawers are unlocked, players should take these actions:

  1. During a run, purchase four charms and put them in the four drawers. To put a Lucky Charm in a drawer, select it from the desk and choose the “put in drawer” option.
  2. Fail the run when the four drawers are filled.
  3. Start a new run. The charms in the drawers will have transformed into Corpse items.
  4. Equip all four Corpse items and start working on the first deadline.
  5. Purchase a Skull from the shop. This purchase does not need to occur during the first deadline, as the Skull may not be in the first shop, though it is good to get the item early in a run.

Whenever you equip the Skull, random free charms will show up in any empty drawers at the start of each deadline. This helps offset the extra debt you get from using Corpse items and the Skull itself, so it’s a good idea to try and get the Skull within the first few deadlines if you can.

How to Get Cloverpit’s Bad Ending

If you have all four Corpse items equipped, and are planning to buy the Skull when it’s available in the shop, just keep working to meet the deadlines like you normally do. This time, you need to complete Deadline #8 and get a score higher than 250,000 points. Doing so will give you the black skull key inside the box to the right of the ATM. Use this key to open the door that is across from the ATM, and then activate the slot machine at the end of the hallway to see the credits.

How to Get Cloverpit’s 999 True Ending

To unlock the real ending of Cloverpit, players need to finish Deadline #8 while having the four Corpse items and the Skull equipped – the same way they did for the bad ending. But here’s what’s different: you must avoid answering three red text phone calls before completing Deadline #8. You’re guaranteed to get two of these calls at the start of Deadline #3 and #7, and when they happen, choose the “Be Right Back” option and don’t check the phone again.

If you finish a task after missing a red text message, a mark will cover a “6” on the spinning disk of the slot machine. The objective is to highlight all three 6’s before Deadline #8 starts.

This means there’s only one red phone call players need to avoid, and they can make it happen at the start of Deadline #6 by spinning a 666 during Deadline #5. To make sure a 666 happens during Deadline #6, or to improve the odds, players can do the following:

  • Select the Heartbreak memory card at the beginning of the run, as it guarantees a 666 on the last round of every deadline.
  • Select the Important Choice or Recovery Attempt memory cards at the beginning of the run to double the chances of a 666.
  • Focus on spinning as much as possible every round to maximize the chances of a 666. This means always selecting the seven spin option, and the Fake Coin and Cat Food charms, which can increase spins, can also be useful.

Don’t hesitate to spin a 666 during Deadlines #3 and #4. Doing so might trigger a red text phone call at the start of Deadlines #4 or #5. However, the red text phone call during Deadline #6 appears to be the only one that happens reliably.

Once you’ve ignored the third red phone call and finished Deadline #7, you should answer the phone when Deadline #8 starts. This action will change the color of the phone, the key inside the box by the ATM, and the disk in the slot machine to white. Now, all you need to do is finish Deadline #8, take the white skull key from the box, and use it on the door opposite the ATM to unlock the 999 ending.
