This article contains spoilers for One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.
Haki is a remarkably strong ability that has become increasingly important in One Piece after the time skip. Currently, Haki is easily a major component of the One Piece power system, equal in importance to Devil Fruits. In the Final Saga, Oda has established that Joy Boy was the most powerful Haki user in One Piece. However, a few characters are comparable to him, including Shanks, whose Haki has been directly compared to Joy Boy’s during the Egghead arc. There are also others, and Oda will likely reveal more about them as the story progresses.
The Power Of Haki In One Piece
- Armament And Observation Are Present In Everyone
- Only a Few Can Use Supreme King Haki
In basic terms, Haki is a spiritual energy present in all living things, though only some individuals are able to awaken and utilize it. Generally, Haki falls into two main categories: Armament and Observation Haki.
True strength comes from unwavering belief. Now, let’s observe: Haki is primarily divided into two core categories. – Silvers Rayleigh in Ruskaina, instructing Luffy on Haki.
One ability lets users harness their spiritual energy as a kind of armor, both for attacking and defending. The other is similar to a sixth sense, and with enough training, it can even offer glimpses into the future. Then, there’s the strongest Haki, called the Color of the Supreme King, which can frighten and overpower opponents – though very few people are capable of using it.
To push things even further, Supreme King Haki can be applied, but this ability is rare in the One Piece world. As Kaido explains, only a select few of the most powerful individuals are capable of using it.
This is the ability to completely dominate others, known as Supreme King Haki. Very few people worldwide are naturally gifted with this power. – Silvers Rayleigh to Luffy
Joy Boy Stands On The Very Top
His Haki Is The Most Overpowered
Throughout the series, Eiichiro Oda has shown One Piece fans amazing feats of Haki, but nothing compares to the incredible display from Joy Boy at the end of the Egghead arc. If you need a refresher, Joy Boy’s Haki was strong enough to instantly revert the transformations of the Five Elders, and even stop Saturn from completing his summoning ritual. It caused a massive split in the sky all by itself, and it knocked out every single Vice Admiral present. What’s even more surprising, it also made Imu visibly frightened, which is truly remarkable. Without a doubt, this is the most powerful demonstration of Haki we’ve seen in One Piece. However, a handful of characters might eventually be able to reach that same level.
Only A Few Legends Can Match Joy Boy’s Haki
Roger, Rocks, And Shanks Are A Few That Compare
When considering individuals whose Haki approaches that of Joy Boy, Roger is definitely among them. As fans know, the Pirate King successfully navigated the Grand Line relying solely on his Haki. Kaido believes Roger possesses a Haki strength on a different level, strongly suggesting he could potentially match Joy Boy’s Haki at its peak. Likewise, Rocks D. Xebec didn’t use a Devil Fruit, and he was known as Roger’s rival. Therefore, his Haki was likely strong enough to compete with Joy Boy’s.
Shanks has been directly linked to Joy Boy in discussions. At the same time, Garp was Roger’s equal and mainly used Haki in battles. And we also need to think about Luffy, who, while still developing, is predicted to eventually exceed Joy Boy’s power.
