Dying Light: The Beast just got update 1.2.3, which continues to improve the problem with zombies grabbing players. This update also includes several fixes to make the game more stable and reliable. Since launching on September 18th, the Dying Light: The Beast development team has released a few updates to make gameplay smoother.
So, Dying Light: The Beast just dropped, and honestly, everyone seemed to really like it at first. But you know how it is with new games – there were definitely a few things that needed tweaking. One of the biggest complaints I kept seeing was how often zombies would just grab you – it was super annoying! Thankfully, the developers have been working hard on updates since launch to fix that and other issues. This latest hotfix feels like another good step in the right direction, making the game even more enjoyable. It’s cool to see them listening to the community and making improvements!
After Techland’s announcement on September 26th, the new Dying Light: The Beast hotfix, version 1.2.3, was released for players on September 30th. This update includes several improvements to gameplay and performance, addressing some critical issues. Notably, the way Biters grab players has been adjusted based on community feedback, making it “less frustrating” and “more fair.” This build also fixes the patrol paths of Screamers in Dark Zones, which were sometimes malfunctioning. Furthermore, the hotfix resolves a serious problem that prevented players from progressing if they received a modified weapon from someone who had already completed the tutorial, as the game would attempt to apply the modification again.

Furthermore, we’ve fixed several issues in Dying Light: The Beast. Specifically, problems with doors and windows in The Mine and Safe Spots that were preventing players from finishing quests have been resolved. In the Mental Asylum Safe Spot, we’ve addressed a bug causing music to loop endlessly and another that blocked the entrance after loading a saved game. Regarding performance, the stuttering that some players experienced while using Frame Generation has been fixed, and the missing image sharpening when using DLSS has been corrected. This hotfix also resolves visual glitches for PS5 players using HDR. Lastly, we’ve added the “Join the Community” button to the user interface on consoles, as it was previously missing.

While Techland continues to polish Dying Light: The Beast, they are also considering concepts and suggestions for the next game in the Dying Light series. Having just released the highest-rated game in the franchise, the developers will likely face higher expectations when they eventually begin work on the fourth installment. However, since the studio is currently dedicated to enhancing their latest release, a major announcement regarding the future of the series is probably still a couple of years off.
