When facing enemies, you’ll need Coins, the main currency in Ghost of Yotei, to get important improvements. You use Coins to buy strong new weapons, helpful armor, essential maps, and other items to help you survive and advance. But at the beginning of the game, resources are very limited, so the best equipment will be hard to get.

Starting with very few Coins makes it impossible to buy everything from the characters you encounter (NPCs). This guide offers several reliable methods to help players earn Coins quickly and efficiently in Ghost of Yotei.

How to Farm Coins Fast in Ghost of Yotei

Completing Bounties

Even though you begin the game with few or no Coins, you’ll be glad to hear you can start earning quite a bit of money relatively soon. Once you finish the prologue and return to your former home, head to the Inn. There, you’ll encounter a story event involving dealing with the soldiers of Lord Saito.

After you’ve finished up and the next day begins, you can leave the Inn and find Kojiro to your left, sitting beside the Bounty Poster Board. This character gives out rewards to players who can hunt down and defeat the targets listed on the board. Completing these bounties is an excellent way to earn money, and they don’t take up much time at all.

Many of the Bounties reward you with weapons and other cosmetic items, making them important to finish early in the game. Generally, these bounties involve fighting just one enemy at a time. These encounters are similar to boss fights, meaning the enemy will use a variety of attacks and strategies.

Gambling for Coins

Another reliable approach is Gambling. To do this, you’ll first need to locate a Gambling Den. Several of these are scattered across the various areas. Based on the path you chose from the starting region, you’ll either encounter the Ishikari Plain or the Tokachi Range. The Huranai’s Rest Inn, located east of the Ohara Plains, has a Gambling Den you can access immediately. The Oni’s Breath Inn, east of Ishikari Fork, also features one, but you’ll need to defeat the Oni inhabitants first.

Within the Gambling Den, you’ll find a game called Zeni Hajiki. The first time you play, a flashback will show Atsu’s mother explaining how it works. It’s a simple game where you control how far the coin shoots using the R2 button. Each game costs 120 Coins, and because it’s fairly easy, you should be able to win consistently and earn a profit. You can also win a Charm in each den after your second victory.

Selling Items

Throughout the game, you’ll find many NPCs who let you sell your items. Resources you don’t need, or have a lot of, can be quickly gotten rid of by trading them with these scavengers and merchants. Selling these items won’t earn you huge sums of Coins at once, but it’s a steady way to cover small shortages when you’re trying to buy an upgrade or new gear. This way, everything you collect feels valuable and slowly adds to your wealth.
