- Unlocking The Desert Level In Megabonk
A new game called Megabonk is becoming incredibly popular. I first learned about this 3D game – which is similar to Vampire Survivors – by seeing streamers like Shroud play it on Twitch.
I had a feeling when I first saw this game-it seemed like I’d played something similar before. Now, just a week later, I’m completely hooked! When I’m not actually playing Megabonk, I’m either lost in thought about it or, like now, writing about how much I’m enjoying it.
Consider, for instance, that Megabonk actually has a second area: the Desert. This is often overlooked, as almost all gameplay footage, videos, and screenshots I’ve come across feature the Forest level.
Initially, the Desert level is inaccessible, but unlocking it is quite simple, particularly if you enjoy playing as cowboy robots that use guns.
Unlocking The Desert Level In Megabonk

First things first, let’s review some key definitions. Here’s how Megabonk’s levels work:
- There are currently two levels in Megabonk: Forest and Desert.
- Each level has three tiers. The higher the tier, the higher the difficulty.
- Tier 2 of each level will have an additional stage in the map available after defeating the boss. Tier 3 will have a total of three stages available.o
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s recap the process required to unlock the Desert level.
Okay, so if you want to get to the Desert in Megabonk, here’s what I figured out: you absolutely *have* to unlock the CL4NK character first. And that’s a bit of a grind – you need to get the Revolver weapon and then take down 7,500 enemies. Seriously, 7,500!
Next, you need to play as CL4NK in the Forest Tier 2 stage. Once you defeat the first boss there, go through the portal to reach the second part of Forest Tier 2. Doing so will unlock the Desert level.

As indicated above, you’ll get a notification to confirm you’ve completed the requirement.
The Desert level introduces unique enemies and objects you can interact with. You’ll need to finish quests to unlock additional characters, weapons, and tomes.
It’s worth pointing out that the Desert environment feels very different from the Forest. Primarily, it’s, as you’d expect, a desert, and doesn’t have the gentle “hills” that are common in the Forest. Whether you like it or not, it’s a vast, empty, and desolate landscape.
You’ll also encounter a unique boss in the Desert: Lil’ Anubis, who has several abilities. His most dangerous attack is a spinning circle of beams that you must dodge.
Be sure to explore thoroughly to find everything required to optimize your character and maximize your survival time, so let’s get started! Get bonkin’!
