One Piece: Oda Officially Confirms A New User Of Advanced Conqueror’s Haki

I’m really enjoying how One Piece is finally showing us the legendary figures fans have been wanting to see, all thanks to the Loki flashback. After so many years, Oda has delivered a truly fantastic flashback, and it’s been amazing to be introduced to so many powerful characters at their peak. The God Valley flashback has been absolutely incredible so far, and it’s clear Oda carefully chose the most formidable fighters of that era to be on that island. Even if they weren’t *all* at their absolute strongest, it’s obvious they were all very capable warriors.

For instance, Garp was incredibly powerful, able to wield advanced Conqueror’s Haki and even make someone as formidable as Whitebeard hesitate to fight him. Beyond Garp, Oda has now officially stated that Silvers Rayleigh, the right-hand man of the future Pirate King, is also a user of the Immortality countering Haki. While fans suspected Rayleigh possessed Conqueror’s Haki Coating, Oda has now confirmed this ability to harm those considered immortal.

One Piece fans are well aware that Silvers Rayleigh, famously known as the Dark King, was exceptionally strong. During the Elbaf arc, Oda specifically confirmed to fans that Rayleigh was as powerful as the Pirate King himself, and also equal to Scopper Gaban. These three members of the Roger Pirates were renowned for their incredible strength and were considered to be in a class of their own.

During the Holy Knights’ assault on Elbaf, Gaban was the first to demonstrate the ability to harm the immortals and prevent their regeneration. He did this using Advanced Conqueror’s Haki. While the specific mechanism isn’t yet known, he confirmed it was definitely his Haki that allowed him to do it. This advanced application of Haki has now also been observed with Rayleigh, seemingly confirming he can do it as well.

In One Piece chapter 1161, Oda finally showed Rayleigh fighting Saint Sommers in God Valley. This battle between the two powerful characters was brief, with Rayleigh defeating Sommers with just one hit, sending him deep into the underworld. While Sommers isn’t dead, the fact that Rayleigh could injure him using Haki suggests he utilized the same highly advanced form of Haki as Gaban.

Given that Scopper Gaban is capable of harming and defeating the Holy Knights, it’s understandable that Rayleigh possesses the same ability. Gaban and Rayleigh are roughly equal in strength, even though Gaban considers himself the second strongest member of the Roger Pirates, next to Roger himself. Regardless, both of them, along with Roger, are powerful enough to defeat Holy Knights and overcome their regenerative abilities. It’s not shocking that Rayleigh utilizes a new type of Haki that negates immortality, but it’s good to have the author officially confirm it. Fans are hoping to see more thrilling fights from the God Valley arc in the next chapter.
