As a longtime FIFA fan, I’m thrilled to see EA Sports continuing to refine and enhance the gameplay experience with FC 25. The new goalkeeper movement and corner kick assignments are particularly exciting additions for me.
In addition to updating beloved game modes, EA Football Club 25 offers a fresh array of gameplay features and advancements. Some newcomers, such as FC IQ and Rush, have generated excitement, while others are designed to boost on-pitch performance.

Goalkeeper movement
In an update, the way manual goalkeeper movements work has been adjusted: Players can now only take a few steps at a time when repositioning their goalkeepers. Developers added a brief cooling-down time following each use to avoid excessive repetition of this action.
For decades, shifting your goalkeeper in Ultimate Team has been an essential tactic. Skilled players utilize this maneuver to throw off and perplex attacking opponents.
In Football Club 25, players frequently voiced concerns over the goalkeeper’s movements being excessively unpredictable. To address these grievances, developers have made adjustments, decreasing the goalie’s reach. These modifications aim to make it more challenging for players to manipulate opposing forwards.
Corner kick assignments
As a gamer, I’m excited about the latest update in FC 25. Now, when taking a corner kick, I have more control over my team’s positioning. Offensively, I can designate a specific player to target with my corner using the new “Target Player” instruction. Defensively, I can assign players to protect the near post or the back post based on my strategy. This adds an extra layer of tactics and makes every corner kick more strategic.
Here’s a description of the three new options from the devs:
- Target Player: The assigned player will be the focus of the corner.
- Near Post: The assigned player will be positioned on the first post, or near it during a corner.
- Back Post: The assigned player will be positioned on the back post, or near it during a corner.
EA SportsTargeting a specific player on a corner has never been easier.In simpler terms, the “Roles” label in the menu has been changed to “Assignments.” This is where you can provide explicit directions for the players.
The devs confirmed that this feature may not be available in all modes.
