I’m really excited about ILA: A Frosty Glide! It’s a super cozy indie platformer where you play as a young witch learning the ropes. You get around on a “skatebroom” – how cool is that? – and the main goal is to find her lost cat, Coco. The developers, Magic Rain Studios out of Spain, actually ran a really successful Kickstarter campaign back in early 2025, getting over $31,000 from 681 backers. Thankfully, they managed to nail down an October 20 release date, so we don’t have to wait too long to play! I can’t wait! It looks adorable.

ILA: A Frosty Glide Shows New Gameplay with Layered Character Customization

Ahead of its initial release, Magic Rain Studios has released a new trailer for its upcoming platformer game, and Game Rant has an exclusive first look. The three-minute video includes insights from producer Cristina Garcia, who details the story behind the game and showcases the extensive character customization options in ILA: A Frosty Glide. Players will be able to personalize their character’s appearance by changing their outfit, hat, skatebroom, and cape-all managed through an easy-to-use interface with a dedicated section for each item type.

You’ll find many cosmetics in ILA: A Frosty Glide as you explore the game’s charming world. Others will be available for purchase at a magic shop that the main character unlocks fairly early in the story. The latest gameplay video shows off a wide variety of clothing sets-dozens, in fact-including options like Pyroclast, Winter Frost, Ice Petal, and Snowy Night. From magical capes to frog-shaped hats, the designs fit the game’s overall playful and imaginative style.

In terms of gameplay, ILA: A Frosty Glide offers a simple and enjoyable 3D platforming adventure. Players can run, jump, and glide through different levels, solving puzzles, discovering hidden secrets, and collecting lots of items. The game also features an engaging soundtrack created by Joaquim Scandurra, and a unique upgrade system for the main character’s ‘skatebroom,’ letting her become a more powerful flyer over time.

ILA: A Frosty Glide Coming to PC and Consoles on October 20

ILA: A Frosty Glide will be released on October 20th for all versions of the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You’ll be able to find the PC version only on Steam. Magic Rain Studios hasn’t announced how much the game will cost yet. Besides ILA: A Frosty Glide, the Spanish studio is also developing another game called Lua. Although the two games are quite different-Lua is a fast-paced, rhythm-based action game about longboarding-both games clearly show Magic Rain’s love for skateboarding.
