One Piece: Oda Has Officially Revealed A Marine Above Yonko Level

After a long wait, Oda has finally revealed more about the powerful figures from One Piece‘s past, giving fans what they’ve been requesting for years. Currently, the world is seeing a rise in piracy, with more pirates sailing the seas than ever before. However, the previous generation of pirates and Marines seemed much more impressive, and fans have eagerly awaited a full display of their strength for a long time.

In One Piece chapter 1161, Oda finally showed fans a detailed look at the God Valley Incident, bringing together the most legendary figures in the One Piece world. From Rocks D. Xebec, a truly iconic character, to Roger, Whitebeard, and Garp, Oda revealed them all at God Valley. Interestingly, Oda has also officially confirmed the single Marine who surpassed even Yonko level strength at God Valley, and that was Garp.

The meaning of “Yonko level” is becoming less clear since pirates like Buggy have become part of the group. However, the Yonko are still the four strongest pirates sailing the seas and generally represent the very best. Luffy’s current strength gives a good idea of what a Yonko should be, but Kaido, who Luffy recently defeated, is an even better example. Kaido was exceptionally powerful, perfectly embodying the strength expected of a Yonko. Boasting incredible Haki and impressive Devil Fruit abilities, Kaido was a truly fearsome opponent. Despite this, Oda has now officially stated that Garp is even stronger than Kaido was during the Wano arc.

The only person capable of stopping Garp was Roger, and since fans know Roger was stronger than most Yonko, like Kaido and Big Mom, it suggests that Garp was also at a Yonko-level or higher.

Garp is powerful enough to challenge Roger, and Whitebeard is the sole pirate who ever fought Roger to a draw, putting them all at roughly the same level. However, Whitebeard deliberately avoided fighting Garp, demonstrating the immense respect he held for the famed Marine. Hopefully, Oda will showcase more of Garp’s abilities and power in future chapters of One Piece.
