Megabonk is filled with characters you won’t soon forget. Characters like Megachad, who demonstrated the Aura ability in Megabonk trailers, and Vlad, clearly inspired by Dracula and using Blood Magic, each bring something special to the game. A particularly enjoyable character to control is Calcium – a skateboarding skeleton capable of incredibly high speeds.
Calcium gains a passive benefit that gradually increases his Movement Speed, and this speed also boosts his Damage output – to create the strongest Calcium build, maximizing his Movement Speed is crucial. This guide will show you the best weapons to acquire first, the most helpful Tomes for Calcium, and the items you should focus on to achieve the ultimate Calcium build.
Okay, so this guide is for people who are already pretty far into Megabonk. I’m assuming you’ve unlocked all four Weapon slots, all four Tome slots, and most of the extra Items you can get. While it can still help if you’re just starting out with Tiers 1 and 2, this is really focused on building the best Calcium setup for tackling Tier 3 runs.
Best Calcium Weapons in Megabonk

Bone (Default)
- Bone Effect: Throws bones that bounce off enemies
The Bone will automatically target enemies and bounce to hit additional nearby enemies – it doesn’t lose damage with each bounce! The number of bounces depends on the Bone’s level. It functions similarly to the Revolver, but it trades some Projectile Speed and Crit Chance for increased base Damage and more Bounces.
While you’re looking for the three best Calcium weapons in Megabonk, consider upgrading this one too – particularly if the upgrade boosts how many projectiles it fires.
Bananarang
- Bananarang Effect: Throws bananas that return to the owner
As a Calcium main, I’ve found the Bananarang to be seriously good! It just *works* with how quickly he can move. Okay, so it starts with a pretty slow Projectile Speed, but here’s the cool part: every single one of those bananas comes right back to Calcium, no matter how far you throw them! It’s amazing, even across the whole map. Definitely a weapon you should check out if you play him.
Don’t take damage to boost your Movement Speed, then quickly run past opponents while throwing Bananarangs. This lets you get even further ahead, and you can see each thrown projectile hit every enemy behind you as it curves back around.
Lightning Staff
- Lightning Staff Effect: Summons lightning to smite nearby enemies
Since Calcium moves very quickly, you don’t need to limit yourself to weapons that only hit enemies right next to you. The Lightning Staff damages a random enemy in an area, and while it seems short-ranged, it actually has a surprisingly long reach.
Move as quickly as possible to increase the damage of the Lightning Staff. Also, get upgrades for how many projectiles it fires – this will let it quickly eliminate large groups of enemies, creating more space for Calcium to move around more freely.
Aegis
- Aegis Effect: Blocks incoming attacks and sends out shockwaves
In Megabonk, the Aegis is a highly valuable asset for nearly all characters – think of it as a protective “tool.” It grants a set amount of Shields which absorb damage when you’re hit. These Shields aren’t permanent; they automatically recover over time. Importantly, increasing your Attack Speed makes this recharge process happen much faster.
When Calcium reaches very high speeds, you’ll probably unintentionally collide with enemies, putting yourself at risk of taking damage before you can react. Grab the Aegis to maintain your Movement Speed even while getting hit, giving you extra time to escape difficult scenarios.
Best Calcium Tomes in Megabonk

XP Tome/Cursed Tome/Luck Tome
- XP Tome Effect: Increases how much XP you gain from every source
- Cursed Tome: Increases Difficulty, increasing enemy spawns and stats
- Luck Tome: Increases the Luck stat, improving your chance to get good items or upgrades
In Megabonk, there are three Tomes that are essential to get and improve for almost any character build: the XP Tome, the Cursed Tome, and the Luck Tome. The XP Tome makes XP shards more valuable, the Cursed Tome causes more enemies to appear (which leads to more XP shards), and the Luck Tome improves your chances of receiving better rewards.
Try to obtain these items as soon as possible to benefit from their incredibly powerful scaling. For instance, if you acquire an XP Tome early on and upgrade it to about 50% completion during the first half of Tier 1, you’ll probably reach level 35 or 40 before confronting the first stage boss.
Damage Tome
- Damage Tome Effect: Increases all outgoing Damage by a certain percentage
The Damage Tome provides a simple and direct increase to all of your Damage output. Since you should be able to avoid damage effectively with good Movement Speed, it’s better to choose a Damage Tome over Tomes that focus on survivability. This will significantly improve the damage dealt by your Bone, Bananarang, and Lightning Staff.
Agility Tome
- Agility Tome Effect: Increases Movement Speed by a certain percentage
Calcium has a passive ability that enhances his Damage output based on how quickly he moves. His Movement Speed also naturally increases the longer he avoids being hit. Since his Damage is tied to his Movement Speed, using the Agility Tome to boost this stat will directly increase his offensive capabilities. Just be mindful not to run headfirst into a group of enemies while trying to gain speed.
Quantity Tome
- Quantity Tome Effect: Increases how many Projectiles weapons fire
Okay, so the Quantity Tome is seriously helpful when I’m starting out in Megabonk. It lets me fire off way more projectiles really fast, which is awesome. Now, as I get better weapons, they naturally boost my projectile count too, so it becomes less crucial. But honestly, the *real* reason I love it for Calcium is because it also stacks with Aegis, giving me a ton more Shield projectiles. It’s a huge boost to my defenses!
If you can’t locate a Damage or Agility Tome, the Quantity Tome is a good backup option for your fourth Tome slot (following XP, Cursed, and Luck Tomes).
Best Calcium Items in Megabonk

To make Calcium stronger, focus on items that boost his Movement Speed and ability to move around easily. This is especially useful because he gets incredibly fast if he isn’t damaged for a while. When looking for items, pay attention to the men in suits with different colored hats – the hat color indicates how rare the items they’re selling are, and you’ll need Gold to buy them.
Each of these vendors provides a choice of three items, with prices going up depending on how rare and high-level they are. You’ll usually get most of your items by opening Chests and receiving random rewards. But, if you encounter one of these hat-wearing characters, be sure to look out for the best Sir Oofie items – they can significantly improve your build:
