Might a remastered Killzone trilogy thrive in today’s gaming landscape according to series composer Joris de Man? Indeed, it seems plausible.
Among the cherished exclusive series from PlayStation, Killzone is certainly one of them. However, since the release of Killzone: Shadow Fall in 2014, the series has taken a break, as the developer, Guerrilla Games, has been devoting their attention entirely to the Horizon series.
In a recent chat with Videogamer, de Man discussed the series and his plans for introducing it to a fresh crop of gamers.
De Man mentioned that he’s aware of the requests to revive Killzone. However, he considers it a potentially risky move since he doesn’t have direct insight into Guerrilla’s plans… He’s unsure if it will become a reality.
I’m optimistic about it, given its renowned status as a classic franchise. However, it should also address the changing preferences and concerns of the audience, as it does have a darker side.
In response to whether it referred to a fresh Killzone game or a remake, de Man thinks a remaster would likely fare better.
He expressed his belief that remastering the game might prove successful, while he’s unsure if another new game would garner the same level of interest. He wonders if perhaps people have moved on from it and are now seeking something more relaxed or less time-consuming.
