WoW Explains How Character Services Work With Warbands Character Select Screen

Highlights

  • The new Warbands character selection screen in The War Within has changed how players use paid character services in World of Warcraft.
  • All characters, regardless of Realm, are now listed together on the character selection screen, making it easier for players to manage their toons.
  • Players must select their character’s home Realm from the list to access paid character services, ensuring they are on the correct server.

As a long-time World of Warcraft player, I have to admit that the new character selection screen in The War Within has been a game-changer for me. I used to spend so much time hopping between Realms just to manage my various characters and their services. But now, with all my toons listed together on one screen, it’s so much easier to keep track of everything.

In their latest update for “The War Within” expansion in World of Warcraft, Blizzard has provided a guide to help players understand the significance of choosing the appropriate Realm when utilizing paid services such as Character Transfers, Faction Changes, and more with the revamped Warbands character selection screen. As this new interface varies slightly from previous experiences in the game, it may initially seem perplexing for some players.

The Pre-Expansion Update for “The War Within” in “World of Warcraft” introduces numerous new elements, but none are as transformative as the Warbands system. One aspect of these player-friendly enhancements is immediately noticeable when logging into the game post-update: the character selection interface has been overhauled. Now, all characters from every realm are gathered in a single, easy-to-navigate list. This revamped screen includes a search function, additional information, and an appealing campfire scene where up to four characters can relax together.

As a long-time player of World of Warcraft with numerous characters spread across different realms, I can tell you that the recent update to the character selection screen has significantly altered my gaming experience. Now, instead of having to jump through hoops to access paid services like Character Transfers or Race Changes, I can easily find the tokens in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

How Character Services Work in WoW: The War Within

  • The new character selection screen added in the World of Warcraft: The War Within Pre-Patch shows all characters on a singular list, regardless of Realm.
  • When using Character Transfer, Level Boost, Race Change, or Faction Change token, characters may be grayed out.
  • Selecting the character’s home Realm from the list, accessed at the top of the screen, will allow them to use paid character services.

When creating a new character, players will now be prompted to choose the specific realm they want to join. Before starting the process, their currently active realm will appear next to the “Create Character” button as a reminder. This step is essential when utilizing services or generating new World of Warcraft characters. However, once logged in, players can access and play their existing characters on any realm from this revised main menu screen.

In “World of Warcraft: The War Within,” certain paid character services have been discontinued during the Pre-Patch. These include Guild Realm Transfers, Guild Faction Transfers, and Character Transfers between linked Battle.net accounts. The free Character Restoration service is currently unavailable but is expected to be reinstated in a few weeks.
