As a hardcore gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of video game adaptations to film. Some have been brilliant, like “Mortal Kombat” (1995) and “Silent Hill” (2006), while others have been disastrous, like “Super Mario Bros.” (1993) and “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” (2010). Now, with the upcoming release of the “Borderlands” movie, I can’t help but feel a sense of trepidation.
It seems that enthusiasm for the upcoming Borderlands film may have waned among fans. Should it underperform, there’s a possibility that movie studios might turn to more effective methods when bringing video games to the big screen.
