In *Digimon Story: Time Stranger*, you can combine and evolve your Digimon by merging your partners to create stronger versions. With over 400 Digimon to collect and train, figuring out which ones can be fused or cross-evolved can be challenging.
The game features many ways to evolve your Digimon, including DNA/Jogress, which can be confusing. This guide will help players understand all the different evolution types, like Fusions and DNA Evolutions, and how they work. It also explains the Fusion Enhancement feature, so you can get the most out of it.
What is DNA Digivolution (or Jogress Evolution) in Digimon Story: Time Stranger?
Okay, so in this game, there’s this thing called DNA Digivolution – some people also call it Jogress. Basically, it’s when two of your Digimon fuse together. It can be permanent, meaning they stay fused, or temporary. The temporary version is super cool, but kinda hidden. It happens during battle, and both Digimon use up their turn to do a really powerful attack. Honestly, I figured it out by just messing around and seeing what happened – it’s not something the game really *tells* you about!

Certain Digimon can undergo DNA Digivolution, and you’ll know them by unique symbols appearing in their skill descriptions. These Digimon can initiate the Digivolution during battle by using a special technique that unlocks when their compatible partner Digimon is also in your active team. To make this happen, both Digimon need to be part of your starting lineup, not just in reserve.

Permanent Jogress Evolution lets two Digimon combine into a single, stronger one using the Divivolution feature. This process resets their level to 1, but they become permanently fused. Powerful examples include Omnimon (formed by WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon), Examon (Slayerdramon and Brekdramon), and Mastemon (Angewomon and LadyDevimon). There are many other Jogress Evolutions in the game, so players should carefully choose which Digimon to train to unlock these powerful combinations by the endgame.
All Jogress Evolutions in Digimon Story: Time Stranger

In *Digimon Story: Time Stranger*, Digimon can evolve in many ways, and the strongest evolutions are called Jogress. These evolutions are even more powerful than Mega level, Burst Mode, or Armor Digievolution. To achieve a Jogress evolution, you’ll need to meet specific requirements, usually related to your Digimon’s personality. Changing personalities can take time, but you can use features like the DigiFarm to make the process faster.
Here’s a complete list of Jogress Evolutions in Digimon Story: Time Stranger. It details what you need to do to trigger them, either during a single battle or by permanently evolving your Digimon.

Keep a close eye on the Digimon list in the box throughout your adventure. Some Digimon are only available at certain times, and missing them can prevent you from evolving your Digimon down specific paths or performing certain Jogress combinations. If you need to, you can always revert your Digimon to an earlier, In-Training form to open up different evolution options, so keep that in mind.

Some Digimon that can be evolved into, like Apocalymon, are currently unavailable in the game. This is because these evolutions, such as Apocalymon (from Piedmon or Puppetmon), require merging four Digimon together. Fanglongmon is another example; it needs the four Divine Beast Digimon (Azulongmon, Byakkomon, Ebonwumon, and Zhuqiaomon) to evolve, and those Digimon aren’t currently included in *Digimon Story: Time Stranger*.

What is Digimon Fusion (Enhancement) in Digimon Story: Time Stranger

In Digimon Fusion, or Enhancement Loading, you can combine multiple Digimon to make one Digimon stronger. A Digimon’s Talent determines its maximum level. By fusing extra Digimon with your main Digimon, you increase its power, stats, level, and overall potential. This allows you to maximize your Partner Digimon’s strength, which is often necessary to unlock the most powerful evolutions in the game. Here’s how to use the Load Enhancement feature:
- Open the Digivice Menu (X on Pc, Triangle on PS, Y on Xbox).
- Rotate to the Digimon Tab and select it.
- Scroll down to ‘Load Enhancement.’
- Select the Digimon to reinforce.
- Now, in the new menu, select the Digimon used as ‘sacrifice.’
- The selected Digimon will be lost, and the first Digimon will be reinforced.
Each stage of Digimon evolution has a level cap of 99. Raising a Digimon through each stage to level 99 will likely result in a stronger evolved form. Digimon have different natural strengths, and even the same Digimon can have varying levels of potential.
The stronger a Digimon is – meaning the higher its Stage and Level/Talent – the more it will boost the core Digimon you’re trying to strengthen. For instance, two Digimon at the ‘In-Training’ stage with Level 1 will give less experience and talent points than a single ‘Rookie’ Digimon at Level 1. Similarly, fusing a powerful ‘Champion’ or ‘Ultimate’ Digimon with a weaker one yields better results than merging several weaker Digimon into a stronger one.
Certain Digimon are simpler to obtain than others, so it’s a good idea for players to collect a lot of extra Digimon. You’ll need these later in the game to improve your team through Enhancement.
