As a dedicated fan of both the Star Wars and gaming worlds, I have been eagerly following the developments in the Star Wars Jedi and Marvel’s Spider-Man franchises. Last year, these two beloved IPs delivered spectacular sequels that not only met but exceeded my expectations.

In the past year, two highly successful intellectual properties were continued with impressive sequels within their respective franchises. Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the successor to Jedi: Fallen Order, and Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, provided fans with thrilling experiences featuring captivating narratives. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor refined its Metroidvania-style gameplay blended with Soulslike elements, broadening the scope of the world and deepening character development. Similarly, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 offered a larger and improved experience in virtually every aspect as Peter Parker and Miles Morales collaborated to tackle various threats to New York City.

Cal Kestis, the main character of “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor,” has developed since the events in “Fallen Order.” The intriguing storyline follows Cal and his committed friends as they face perilous situations, all while trying to keep the remnants of the Jedi Order alive in the aftermath of the Empire’s purge. Meanwhile, in “Spider-Man 2,” Peter Parker’s bond with his protege, Miles Morales, intensifies, showcasing their unique powers and viewpoints as Spidermen. With EA confirming a third “Star Wars Jedi” game, the upcoming title is expected to adopt one of “Spider-Man 2″‘s most successful elements.

Star Wars Jedi’s Third Entry Could Look to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 For Great Inspiration in One Area

Peter Parker and Miles Morales’ Dynamic in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker and Miles Morales teamed up for the first time, allowing players to take on the roles of both heroes throughout the game. With Peter guiding Miles through his heroic journey and Miles training to become the new Spider-Man, players could seamlessly switch between them as they faced off against city-invading villains. The natural storyline and character development enabled a dynamic gameplay experience that gave each character equal attention and excitement. This collaborative approach could also be incorporated into Star Wars Jedi’s upcoming installment.

How Star Wars Jedi’s Next Title Could Use Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Approach to Cal and Kata

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve experienced an unexpected turn of events in “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.” My trusted ally, Bode Akuna, unraveled a shocking revelation – he had been secretly collaborating with the Empire all along! He justified his treachery by claiming it was for the sake of safeguarding his daughter, Kata. After a heated confrontation and overcoming this deception, Cal and our crew welcomed Kata into our fold. We took on the responsibility of nurturing her not only as a new family member but also as a budding Jedi.

As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the Star Wars universe and its rich lore, I firmly believe that Cal Kestis, with his advanced Jedi abilities, could make for an excellent mentor to a young Padawan like Kata.

In “Fallen Order,” Cal underwent training flashbacks led by Jaro Tapal, which introduced new powers as he reactivated his own Jedi abilities. This method could be employed in the third installment of “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” as well. Here, Cal mentors Kata to heighten her connection with the Force and unleash her hidden potential. The narrative could kick off when Kata is making progress, allowing players to alternate between their missions, reuniting at significant moments and epic scenes. This approach mirrors “Spider-Man 2,” providing a diverse range of abilities for both characters. Cal may eventually transfer his Jedi expertise to Kata, while she refines her skills under his tutelage.
