What to Do After Finishing Ghost of Yotei’s Main Story

Similar to many modern open-world games, Ghost of Yotei doesn’t end when the main story does. After you finish the game, you can enjoy three new side quests, plus finish up any remaining activities you didn’t complete before, like finding hidden collectibles or freeing settlements controlled by Saito’s army.

Finishing everything in *Ghost of Yotei* will unlock the platinum trophy, and give you the rewarding feeling of fully experiencing one of the best games of 2025. Here’s a guide to achieving 100% completion, including details on the three quests you can do after the main story.

Complete All of the Activities and Collectibles

You can technically collect everything in *Ghost of Yotei* before finishing the story, but most players will likely still have a lot to do after seeing the credits. There are 214 collectibles organized into twelve sets, which you can track in the Activities menu. Plus, there are an additional 30 Ainu Items hidden around the world of Ezo.

  • 15 Bamboo Strikes
  • 16 Hot Springs
  • 20 Pillars of the Fallen
  • 13 Shrines
  • 18 Sumi-e Paintings
  • 22 Occupied Locations
  • 8 Zeni Hajiki Games
  • 11 Inari Shrines
  • 8 Shamisen Songs
  • 61 Altars of Reflection
  • 10 Wolf Dens
  • 12 Puzzle Boxes

When hunting down Altars of Reflection, it’s best to fully upgrade Atsu’s skills with the Yari, Kusarigama, and Odachi first—this is needed to unlock certain Sensei Tales. To find these collectibles more quickly, you can use Shamisen songs or refer to Game Rant’s interactive *Ghost of Yotei* map.

Collect All of the Weapons, Armor Sets, and Charms

Atsu offers a wide range of customization options, with 14 different weapons and 13 armor sets to collect, though most aren’t obtained through the main storyline. Players can also find over 70 Charms, plus tons of cosmetic items like dyes, hats, and masks to personalize Atsu’s look. While the cosmetic items are just for fun, the weapons, armor, and Charms can really enhance the already excellent combat system.

Complete All of the Sensei Tales, Bounties, and Mythic Tales

Throughout the game, you’ll meet Senseis in each area who can unlock new equipment, even after you’ve already gotten the gear. Beyond that, there are seven special ‘Mythic Tales’ and many side quests you’ll discover as you explore. The Mythic Tales offer excellent rewards, and the side quests add more depth to the game’s world. Finally, completing the 31 available bounties is a good way to earn extra money.

Complete the Three Post-Game Quests

Okay, so after you finish the main story and the credits roll, you don’t have to leave Ezo! The game actually lets you jump right back in, to a point just before the final battle with Saito. When you get control again, you’ll see three new ‘Tales’ pop up, labeled as ‘Unfinished Business.’ Now, depending on what you already did in the game, you might not be able to start these right away. Each Tale has its own specific requirements to unlock it, and you can find all the details in the table below.

Unfinished Business Unlock Requirements
Duel the Unrivalled Complete the “Takezo the Unrivalled” and “The Five Teachings” Myths.
Burning Plains Complete the Sensei and Bomb Maker missions and all Yotei Six Camps in Ishikari Plain.
A Haunted Land Complete the Sensei and Kunai missions and all Nine Tails Hideouts in Teshio Ridge.
