Megachad is a popular character in the game *Megabonk*, largely due to his impressive physique and strong presence. He gained early recognition through promotional trailers, but it’s also worth noting that his in-game ability, the Aura, damages nearby enemies – a fitting power for such a character!
To create the strongest Megachad character in *Megabonk*, focus on combining weapons, Tomes, and items that help overcome his slow speed and maximize his powerful, close-range, area-of-effect damage. This guide will show you the best choices for weapons, Tomes, and items – including where to find them, whether by trading with hat-wearing characters or claiming them from Moai statues.
This guide is for players who have unlocked all weapon and tome slots, and most items. While helpful for earlier levels, it’s specifically designed for strong, Tier 3 runs in *Megabonk*.
Best Megachad Weapons in Megabonk
The Best Weapons for Megachad in Megabonk
Megachad begins the game with a unique weapon called the Aura, which damages enemies nearby. He also has a defensive ability that can completely block attacks, and this ability recharges quickly – becoming faster with each level he gains. To play Megachad effectively in *Megabonk*, players should choose weapons that complement the Aura and utilize items that make it even stronger.
The Firewalker is a particularly effective weapon for Megachad. It creates a trail of fire as you move, and when upgraded with Projectile and Attack Speed boosts, it can quickly eliminate any enemies chasing you.
Also, watch out for Frostwalker! Since Megachad moves slowly, being able to quickly freeze enemies is really helpful. The faster you attack, the more often Frostwalker will freeze them.
Aegis is really helpful for Megachad, especially since he’s often in close range where he’s likely to be attacked. While he already has a built-in ability to resist one hit every few seconds, Aegis provides extra protection against almost unavoidable damage.
If you can’t find any of the preferred weapons, the Axe is a solid alternative. While it doesn’t benefit from the same upgrades as Aura, it’s still very effective in close combat. With enough upgrades focused on projectiles, you can even create a circle of axes around yourself, but this requires significant investment.
Firewalker
- Firewalker Effect: Leaves a trail of fire behind you.
Frostwalker
- Frostwalker Effect: Freezes and damages enemies in an area around you.
Aegis
- Aegis Effect: Blocks incoming attacks and sends out shockwaves.
Axe
- Axe Effect: Throws spinning axes that deal area damage.
Best Megachad Tomes in Megabonk
The Best Tomes for Megachad in Megabonk
For Megachad, the Cooldown Tome is the strongest choice, with the Size Tome being a very close second. The Cooldown Tome boosts attack speed, letting you deal damage with your Aura and other close-range attacks much faster. The Size Tome, on the other hand, makes all your attacks, especially your Aura, Flamewalker, and Frostwalker, larger.
While Size isn’t a critical stat for most characters, it’s incredibly important for creating the most powerful builds in *Megabonk*.
Ideally, you’ll want to put these two books in your third and fourth equipment slots, after the XP Tome, Luck Tome, and potentially the Cursed Tome. Right now, in the popular ‘Megabonk’ strategy, the XP and Luck Tomes are essential for making good progress in Tier 3 and having a chance at defeating the final boss.
If you haven’t found either of these books within the first five minutes, it’s usually best to start a new run. Use your refresh and banish abilities to narrow down the possible rewards until the game gives you one of these books.
XP Tome/Cursed Tome/Luck Tome
- XP Tome Effect: Increases how much XP you gain from every source
- Cursed Tome Effect: Increases Difficulty, increasing enemy spawns and stats
- Luck Tome Effect: Increases the Luck stat, improving your chance to get good items or upgrades
Size Tome
- Size Tome Effect: +Size – the size of your attacks, projectiles, explosions, and more.
Cooldown Tome
- Cooldown Tome Effect: +Attack Speed – how quickly you shoot projectiles and perform attacks.
Damage
- Damage Tome Effect: +Damage – increases the damage of your attacks.
Evasion
- Evasion Tome Effect: +Evasion – the chance to avoid an attack, taking no damage.
Best Megachad Items in Megabonk
The Best Items for Megachad in Megabonk
While many strong items work well with Megachad, they’re generally useful in any playthrough. Things like Time Bracelets, Clovers, Unstable Transfusions, and Demonic Souls are always a good find. But specifically, try to prioritize getting Campfire, Idle Juice, and Ice Cube – they’re especially powerful with this build.
Campfire lets you heal, and Idle Juice increases your damage – both while you stay still, making them great for the AFK Challenge. If you boost your Aura, equip some close-combat weapons, and use these two items, you can effectively handle waves of enemies without moving. Ice Cube is a powerful item that, similar to the Frostwalker weapon, helps slow down enemies attempting to get past your Aura’s area of effect.
Also watch out for items like Brass Knuckles, which add extra damage when fighting up close, Power Gloves, which create a blast to push enemies back, and the Anvil, which gives you more bonus effects when you improve your weapons as you gain levels.
