Borderlands 4 has a ton of bosses to fight, and Frank the Furnace and the Foundry Freaks are among the best for getting great loot. What’s really nice is you can reach them early in the game, letting you snag some powerful gear even before you finish the main story.
In *Borderlands 4*, the Foundry Freaks control a Ripper Drill Site, meaning you’ll have to battle through groups of bandits to get their attention. After you defeat them once, you can challenge them to a rematch using the Moxxi’s Big Encore machine near their camp. This guide explains how to locate and repeatedly fight Frank the Furnace and the other Foundry Freaks in *Borderlands 4*.
Borderlands 4 Foundry Freaks Location
Okay, so I’ve been hunting the Foundry Freaks, and you can find them at this place called The Pitted Stain Ripper Drill Site. It’s on the southern edge of Idolator’s Noose, which is in the Fadefields – that’s the first area you hit in Kairos when you’re doing the main story in *Borderlands 4*. The good news is, I could head there right now, even if I’m not super high level, so that’s cool.
To get Frank the Furnace and his crew to help you, you’ll need to defeat all the Rippers in the area. They’ll burst from the ground and attack as you approach their camp. Once you’ve taken care of enough of them, the Foundry Freaks will start fighting alongside you.

The Foundry Freaks are a dangerous group of three Rippers: Frank the Furnace, Sal the Engineer, and Hank the Welder. Be careful of their wide-area fire attacks, as they can easily knock you down. If you fall, you can still help by shooting at the other Rippers that appear during the fight.
Foundry Freaks Legendary Drops

As a big fan of the Foundry, I’ve learned that the Freaks each have a chance to drop one of three unique legendary items. It’s important to check the loot from *all* of them after you defeat them, because any one of them could have it!
Legendary | Effects |
---|---|
Chamurky Grenade | Incessant: Continuously homes in on a target |
Chuck Assault Rifle | Pitcher: Throws gun instead of shooting. |
Bloody Lumberjack Assault Rifle | Timber: Fires saw blades that ricochet and deal damage to enemies twice. |
Okay, so I’ve been grinding Kairos and I gotta say, the Foundry Freaks are seriously one of the best places to farm for legendaries. There are three bosses you can fight, which means more chances for awesome drops! Out of everything that can drop there, Chamurky is probably the least amazing, but it’s still pretty useful if you’re building a character around grenades.
Chuck and the Bloody Lumberjack are top-tier weapons in *Borderlands 4*. Chuck is perfect for players who love Tediore guns, but it’s unique: you don’t actually fire it—you throw the entire gun, and with the right upgrades, it can inflict massive damage. The Bloody Lumberjack is equally powerful, using bouncing saw blades to deal significant damage to enemies.
Even if the Foundry Freaks don’t drop one of the three special legendary weapons, you still have a good chance of finding another powerful legendary weapon in Borderlands 4. This fight is like getting three bosses for the price of one, making it a great place to farm for new gear.
