Devolver Digital’s Skate Story Release Date Announcement

Devolver Digital isn’t one of the biggest game publishers, but they consistently grab my attention with their announcements. Their games always feel unique and stand out – and that’s a big part of why I’ve been following Skate Story since it was first revealed in 2022. Even knowing very little about the game, its trailer immediately struck me with a strong and memorable feeling.

Originally planned for release in 2023, Skate Story faced multiple delays, pushing its launch to 2024 and then again to 2025. The game’s long development became a running joke during Devolver Digital’s presentations. But now, the wait is over! Devolver Digital just announced in a new trailer that Skate Story will officially release on December 8th of this year.

Skate Story is Coming to PC, PS5, and Switch 2

Skate Story is, at its core, a game about skateboarding, but it’s much more than that. Based on the trailers, you play as a glass demon living in the underworld who’s trying to eat the moon – and you do it all on a skateboard!

Is this clear? I’m not entirely sure myself! But it feels incredibly promising, and I’m really curious to see how it develops. If you’re intrigued but want to try it out first, a playable demo is now available on its Steam page, just in time for Steam Next Fest next week.

I’ve spent a little time with the demo, and honestly, this game is *weird* – but in a good way! The skateboarding mechanics are way more detailed and fun than I expected. It makes sense why it took them so long to develop, though – there’s a lot going on under the hood.

Skate Story launches digitally on December 8, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam.
