We recently explored the Long Bridge of Volantis in Córdoba, which felt like stepping into a scene from the Dark Souls video game. As we wrap up this travel diary, we’re finishing strong with a visit to the famous Plaza de España in Seville.
Created for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition and designed by Aníbal González, this impressive site blends architectural styles from across Spanish history – including Spanish Regionalism, Baroque, Mudéjar, and Renaissance. The design intentionally reflects the diverse influences that have shaped Spain over centuries. A large plaza is framed by two prominent towers and numerous recessed alcoves.
If the Plaza looks familiar but you can’t place it, that’s likely because it appeared in the film *Lawrence of Arabia* and, more recently, as the Royal Palace in *Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones*.
