As a dedicated Pokemon Go player with years of experience under my belt, I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming Team Rocket Taken Over event. The return of this seasonal feature means an opportunity to obtain the strongest Shadow attackers by using up those saved Charged TMs.
During the Shared Skies Season in Pokemon Go, the Team Rocket Takeover event makes its return, allowing players to obtain powerful Shadow attackers by setting aside a number of Charged Technical Machines (TMs) specifically for this occasion.
Shadow Pokemon are equipped with the expensive and seemingly useless move Charged Move Frustration by default. In Raids and Go Battle League, however, it holds no significance. As a result, this weakens the formidable damage potential of Shadow species, which otherwise boast a 20% amplified power over their normal counterparts.
In the community, members anxiously look forward to each new season of Taken Over to showcase their strongest shadow-type Pokémon. User ‘mahaham1’ advised saving Charged Technical Machines for this special occasion when asked on Reddit about handling these items.

Several supporters shared that they’ve accumulated over 100 Charged TMs during this Season. Yet, a cautionary note was given to users not to erase these as it typically takes between 10 to 15 Charged TMs to acquire the desired move for a Shadow Pokemon.
As a long-time Pokémon Trainer with years of experience under my belt, I strongly believe that having just one or two charged TMs for a particular Shadow Pokémon doesn’t mean your journey ends there. In fact, it’s quite the opposite! If you’re fortunate enough to have multipleShadow Pokémons with impressive stats, then go ahead and experiment with different movesets for each one.
During the Team Rocket Takeover event on August 8, 2024, expect to encounter fresh teams led by Giovanni, the Leaders, and their Grunts.
Additionally, you can employ Charged TMs on the recently caught Shadow Pokémon during the event. There are rumors that Giovanni may possess the formidable Rayquaza, a prominent Dragon and Flying type in the metagame.
