Ahoy there, matey! I be a seasoned sailor with more years at sea than I care to remember. From the tales of old sailors and the stories passed down through generations, I have heard whispers of One Piece – that fabled treasure that would grant untold wealth and power to whoever finds it.

As a dedicated fan of One Piece, I can’t help but reimagine the dramatic conclusion of the Wano arc. I had been eagerly anticipating Eustass Kid’s long-awaited move against Shanks, the Emperor of the Sea and captain of the Red Hair Pirates. With determination burning in my heart, I imagined Kid standing tall on the deck of his ship, ready to take down the legendary pirate.

As a longtime fan of One Piece, I’ve always been captivated by the intricacies of the storyline and the depth of its characters. And let me tell you, Shanks’ recent actions against Kid have left me utterly astonished.

Just How Strong Is Shanks?

Shanks’ strength and abilities

First Appearance One Piece, Episode 4, “Luffy’s Past! The Red-Haired Shanks Appears”
Debut Date December 8, 1999
Story Arc Romance Dawn

Despite being crucial to the plotline of “One Piece” and significantly impacting Luffy’s adventure, Shanks remains a character with limited information known to fans. While certain aspects of his background have been revealed, there is no official confirmation within the storyline. However, it is suggested that Shanks is one of the series’ strongest characters, even though he rarely demonstrates his full power.

Shanks’ skill with Haki, particularly his Conqueror’s Haki, ranks among the most incredible feats, even when compared to mighty figures like Gol D. Roger and Whitebeard. Notably, Shanks has not consumed a Devil Fruit, and yet the legends of his prodigious strength stem solely from his exceptional mastery of Haki. His mere presence was enough to halt the Marineford War in its tracks!

I’m here to put an end to this war.

How Shanks was able to defeat Kid

Previously mentioned, Shanks lacks Devil Fruit abilities; instead, his exceptional Haki sets him apart in a story teeming with potent characters. Thus, at Elbaf’s border, Shanks employed his extraordinary Observation Haki to swiftly gauge the potential harm Kid might cause to his fleet.

As a gamer, I can rephrase that experience as follows: In our last encounter, Kid stood no chance against Shanks, who effortlessly cut off his left arm. But this time around, I noticed a significant power-up from Kid. His Devil Fruit abilities were now under his command, and if not stopped, he could destroy my entire fleet with just one move. With stakes this high, I couldn’t afford to be careless. So, I sprang into action, charging towards Kid’s vessel, and unleashed a familiar battle cry.

That’s what I’d expect from him… Divine Departure!

Everyone within the vicinity was struck by Shanks’ formidable use of Conquerer’s Haki, as he unleashed bolts of ominous black lightning. This extraordinary skill is possessed only by the most powerful fighters globally, allowing them to infuse their weapons or assaults with both Armament and Conquerer’s Haki, making them nearly invulnerable to defense. With a nod to his former captain, Gol D. Roger, Shanks employed the renowned attack, Divine Departure. This devastating strike sliced through Kid’s Damned Punk cannon, leaving both him and Killer defenseless. The destructive force of this single attack was reminiscent of something straight out of Dragon Ball, rather than typical of the world in One Piece.

Despite Shanks having destroyed the notoriety of the Kid Pirates, the fight wasn’t over yet. Once Shanks returned to his own ship, Dorry and Broggy unleashed an attack long forgotten: the Hakoku Sovereignty. This powerful assault brought about the demise of Kid’s vessel and marked the end of Eustass Kid as a pirate.

What This Means For The Future

Will Shanks find the One Piece?

One Piece: How Shanks Was Able To Destroy The Kid Pirates

In Chapter 1121 of “One Piece,” the path for the final contenders towards finding the One Piece has been set. Among those depicted on this map, Shanks and the Red Haired Pirates are strong candidates and have high chances of obtaining the treasure due to their impressive power. Although he currently possesses only two out of the four Red Poneglyphs, his position at Elbaf places him further along the Log Poses’ route compared to others.

In the upcoming battles for the One Piece treasure, it’s challenging to envision anyone besting the Red Haired Pirates, led by Shanks. His strength was colossal, as evident in his effortless elimination of a pirate boasting a 3-Billion Berry bounty. However, this represents only a tiny fraction of his true might. The remainder of his crew may not be as formidable, but they are remarkably strong, having been chosen to sail with the mighty Shanks.

At the conclusion of the Summit War, Ben Beckman made a threatening gesture towards Kizaru, who responded by yielding immediately. Despite being one of the strongest characters in the series, holding the rank of Admiral, Kizaru decided not to battle with Ben Beckman and instead endured embarrassment by submitting.

1. Shanks might still lack some or all of the four Red Poneglyphs, but he’s close to obtaining them. It remains uncertain whether Shanks will be an ally or foe to Luffy when the series concludes, as they share a common goal. However, it’s clear that Shanks is one of the most intimidating characters in One Piece, with few able to oppose him!

One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
