While certain aspects of his background have been revealed, there is no official confirmation within the storyline. However, it is suggested that Shanks is one of the series’ strongest characters, even though he rarely demonstrates his full power.

Shanks’ skill with Haki, particularly his Conqueror’s Haki, ranks among the most incredible feats, even when compared to mighty figures like Gol D. Roger and Whitebeard. Notably, Shanks has not consumed a Devil Fruit, and yet the legends of his prodigious strength stem solely from his exceptional mastery of Haki. This devastating strike sliced through Kid’s Damned Punk cannon, leaving both him and Killer defenseless. His strength was colossal, as evident in his effortless elimination of a pirate boasting a 3-Billion Berry bounty. However, this represents only a tiny fraction of his true might. The remainder of his crew may not be as formidable, but they are remarkably strong, having been chosen to sail with the mighty Shanks.

At the conclusion of the Summit War, Ben Beckman made a threatening gesture towards Kizaru, who responded by yielding immediately. Despite being one of the strongest characters in the series, holding the rank of Admiral, Kizaru decided not to battle with Ben Beckman and instead endured embarrassment by submitting.
