Battlefield 6’s Manhattan Bridge Isn’t Exactly ‘Manhattan Bridge’

With the release of Battlefield 6, players are eager to dive into intense, extended gameplay. The game largely delivers on its promise of returning to the series’ roots. Featuring impressive destruction and a wide range of map sizes, the latest installment in EA’s popular first-person shooter series is off to a fantastic beginning.

While *Battlefield 6* is enjoyable, it still has some flaws. It’s unrealistic to expect any game to be perfect, but the new Manhattan Bridge map is a particular disappointment. Though it initially seemed promising, especially for players who like challenging, destructible environments, the map doesn’t actually allow for combat *on* the bridge itself.

Battlefield 6’s Manhattan Bridge Doesn’t Exactly Meet its Potential, at Least When it Comes to Multiplayer

  • Battlefield 6’s multiplayer doesn’t actually let players go head-to-head on the titular bridge.
  • Campaign players will get to experience the bridge in one mission.
  • Manhattan Bridge is a set piece instead of an actual battleground.

If you were excited about battling on the broken section of the Manhattan Bridge hanging over the East River, it’s only accessible in the story mode of *Battlefield 6*. You can experience it briefly during the fifth mission, “No Sleep,” while trying to stop Pax Armata. However, in the multiplayer modes, the bridge is just a visual element and can’t be fought on.

Many players enjoy both the single-player campaigns and the multiplayer action in *Battlefield*, but some only care about the multiplayer. This means the story mode in *Battlefield 6* might not appeal to everyone. Despite a few minor issues, *Battlefield 6* is a strong return to form with great multiplayer and maps. It would have been even better if it included a playable version of the iconic Manhattan Bridge.

Battlefield 6 earned around $100 million from Steam sales and quickly attracted 700,000 players within its first hour of release on the platform.

While an open, undamaged bridge isn’t the perfect setting for a battle, there are many ways to add challenges to it. The Manhattan Bridge, with opportunities for blocked cars, scattered debris, and vehicle destruction, feels underutilized. Its position above the main map highlights its inaccessibility, and while it looks promising, it ultimately feels like a missed opportunity. It’s tough to create maps that please everyone in *Battlefield*, but the potential of the Manhattan Bridge feels particularly overlooked.

During the fifth mission, called “No Sleep,” players briefly take control on the bridge while trying to stop Pax Armata’s schemes.

Despite its Main Flaw, Manhattan Bridge is Still a Fun Time

Even though I wish I could actually play on the Manhattan Bridge in the game, the map still has a lot to offer. With its Brooklyn streets, rooftops, and the chance for vehicle-based mayhem, it’s sure to deliver exciting, action-packed gameplay for *Battlefield 6* players.

No matter what game mode you enjoy in *Battlefield 6*, the Manhattan Bridge offers a chaotic and exciting place to battle other players. While it’s missing a section that could make things even more intense, it’s still a distinctive map that adds some variety to the game.
