Mario & Sonic Olympics Tie-In Reportedly Absent Due to IOC Ending Partnership

As a longtime fan of both Mario and Sonic, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia as I read about the potential absence of a new Mario & Sonic tie-in game for the 2024 Olympics. For over a decade, these games have been a cherished tradition, providing us with a unique blend of our beloved characters and the excitement of the Olympic Games.

Based on Eurogamer’s latest report, there’s disappointment among fans as the International Olympic Committee concluded their collaboration with Nintendo and Sega, leaving no Mario & Sonic tie-in game for the 2024 Olympics.

Eurogamer shared that Lee Cocker, an experienced industry insider, personally contacted them with this news. According to Cocker, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was exploring potential collaborations with other partners in areas such as NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) and esports.

In the past week, the International Olympic Committee confirmed the inclusion of electronic sports within the Olympics. However, first-person shooter games have been excluded from this new addition to the games.
