The Garden Path: Where Is the Other Half of Augustus’ Cutters?

The Garden Path: Where Is the Other Half of Augustus' Cutters?

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of NPCs and their quirks. But none quite like Augustus from The Garden Path. This fellow hands you a half-baked pair of sheers on your first encounter, leaving you scratching your head (or in this case, your digital controller).

In The Garden Path, as you encounter various Non-Player Characters (NPCs), you’ll notice that each has unique requirements within the game. Among them is a character called Augustus, who is likely to be among the earliest NPCs you come across.

Augustus hands you a “single blade from a pair of scissors,” which is useful for cultivating many types of plants in this farming simulator. Unfortunately, the other half is missing, making it a bit challenging to locate it in your quest to find it.

Where to Find Augustus in the Garden Path

In this charming game, Augustus isn’t tied to specific locations; instead, he roams freely through the forest. If you’re searching for him, consider checking the eastern side of the Community Centre during either Day 1 or Day 2 of Spring. Once you’ve located him, he will appear on your map as a white NPC bubble that you can hover over. Any characters you’ve previously encountered will also show up on your map in this manner.

In this indie game, you can find the remaining shears in the Timber Coppice, close to the Community Center. Look for a large, yellow marker on your map indicating the area. However, the item is quite small and may blend in if you’re not familiar with its appearance. For easier spotting, here’s a screenshot where it’s highlighted in black.

Notice it lies to the west of the Community Centre, near the decorative fork. Take a look straight west from the Stash in this region, specifically by the stump. You’ll spot a tiny red item on the ground that might go unnoticed due to its size. Now that you have the other half, head back to Augustus and ask him to reassemble them. Once put together, he’ll make them function (barely), and then return them so you can now clip various items you couldn’t before. To use the shears, right-click or press the Y button on a controller to open the harvesting menu, and then interact by pressing E to trim any plant beneath you.

The Garden Party is available now on PC and Switch.
