Game Science is releasing an update for *Black Myth: Wukong*, but it’s so big on PlayStation 5 that players might have to delete and reinstall the game to get it. While it’s good the developers are still supporting the game, this could be a problem for PS5 owners with limited storage space.
Released in 2024 for PS5 and PC, *Black Myth: Wukong* quickly gained popularity. This challenging action game, inspired by the classic novel *Journey to the West*, puts players in control of a character based on the legendary Sun Wukong. Since its initial release, the game has received several updates, and it became available on Xbox Series X/S on August 20, 2025.
A new update for *Black Myth: Wukong* requires a massive 93.5 GB of free space on PlayStation 5 due to how the game stores its files. Since the game itself already takes up around 130 GB, some players might have to delete and redownload the entire game to get the update, even though the changes aren’t huge. The update adds Czech language support, fixes bugs, and improves the fight against the Yaoguai King boss. It also boosts performance on all platforms, including faster loading times on PS5 and the ability to use AMD FSR4 on PC. The update will be rolling out starting October 13th, so everyone should have access to it shortly.
This update is significantly bigger than the one released for *Black Myth: Wukong* in September. That earlier update just addressed a few bugs and a single performance problem on Xbox Series X/S.

Black Myth: Wukong has been incredibly popular, selling over 25 million copies since it launched. Fans are hoping Game Science continues to improve the game with updates, making it even better for both new players and those who want to revisit it. It’s a challenging game similar to the ‘Souls-like’ genre.

It looks like Black Myth: Wukong won’t be getting any big expansions. Game Science has announced they’re making a sequel called Black Myth: Zhong Kui. This new game is based on the Chinese legend of Zhong Kui, a spirit who travels between the worlds of the living and the dead to capture ghosts, and is currently in the early stages of development.

Hey everyone, just a heads-up! This new update might take a little while to process all the graphics stuff – it could mean some shader recompilation. If the game crashes during that process, don’t worry! Just try restarting it a few times, and it should eventually finish. Or, if you’re impatient, you can skip the shader compilation altogether.
