Xbox Reveals Sky Cipher Controller & New Packaging Coming August 2024

As a seasoned gamer with decades of controller-grasping under my belt, I must admit, the new Xbox Wireless Controller – Sky Cipher Special Edition has me smitten! The transparent design and metallic accents are a refreshing twist on the traditional controller aesthetic, and I can’t help but feel a twinge of nostalgia for the days of clear tech.

Today, Xbox unveiled the Sky Cipher Special Edition controller in a fresh blog post. The controller will be launched simultaneously with an updated packaging layout.

The announcement partially validates an earlier leak from this month, accurately predicting that Microsoft will unveil the Sky Cipher controller in August.

Microsoft recently unveiled the sleek, translucent blue design of Sky Cipher, which brings back a sense of nostalgia. Moreover, today’s update highlights that the controller boasts metallic elements and a gleaming silver interior.

Enthusiasts have the opportunity to reserve the controller as of today in certain Xbox regions. Microsoft has disclosed that the anticipated price for this controller is set at $69.99. Based on the product details, the Sky Cipher controller is scheduled for release on August 13, 2024.

Reviving with renewed vigor, transparent technology is back in style! Introducing a fresh addition to the Xbox family, the Xbox Wireless Controller – Sky Cipher Special Edition.

The design also includes two-tone thumbsticks, as well as metallic triggers and a matching D-pad.

Xbox announced that the Sky Cipher will feature a fresh, eco-friendly packaging redesign with the goal of minimizing its environmental impact.

Today’s post highlights that Sky Cipher has eliminated single-use plastics in its packaging, replacing the traditional paper manual with a QR code instead. In a similar move, Xbox has announced that their new packaging will shrink by approximately 20% in size and weight per unit, as they too have replaced physical manuals with digital alternatives.

More recently, Xbox has been attracting attention with the release of humorous Deadpool and Wolverine-themed controllers. Unfortunately, these special edition controllers can’t be bought directly but are only distributed through giveaways, leaving fans disappointed as they can’t purchase them.
