As a devoted fan who has been following Toby Fox’s work since the release of Undertale, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and impatience upon hearing about the upcoming chapters of Deltarune. The progress report on Chapter 4 is indeed promising, but the wait for Chapters 3 and 4 seems to be stretching out like a never-ending battle sequence in one of Fox’s games.

Toby Fox, the creator of Deltarune, recently shared some news about Chapter 4 of the game, suggesting that it’s almost ready for completion. However, even though the development process is wrapping up, it seems like Chapters 3 and 4 are still a while away from being released to the public.

In 2015, Fox shot to fame among developers with the launch of Undertale, a groundbreaking RPG featuring intense bullet hell battles and engaging experiences for sparing monsters. Although his subsequent RPG, Deltarune, didn’t achieve the same level of remarkable success, it has kept fans hooked by releasing chapters periodically, with the latest instalment appearing in September 2021. Since its debut in 2018, only two chapters of this retro-style RPG have been unveiled; however, Fox intends to reveal the next two episodes concurrently.

Hey Gamers!

Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 are Still a Long Way Away

Despite the development phase nearing completion, Fox noted that releasing the upcoming chapters will demand additional effort and time. Notably, these chapters will be made available in both English and Japanese versions simultaneously, necessitating localization work. Furthermore, he aims for the release date to synchronize across all platforms, marking a novelty for the game, as Deltarune Chapters 1 and 2 previously debuted on PC ahead of consoles.

Although there was a prolonged delay, Fox appears optimistic that fans will find satisfaction upon playing Chapters 3 and 4, as he claims they represent the largest release in Deltarune history in terms of gameplay duration. Moreover, some team members have already begun work on Chapter 5, mapping out preliminary plans for maps and bullet hell patterns. Fox is confident that with this momentum, players may never again experience such a long wait between Deltarune chapters.
