Battlefield 6’s heads-up display (HUD) can feel crowded with markers for both teammates and enemies, which can pull you out of the game. While you can turn the entire HUD off, some elements are important for playing. Luckily, you can customize individual parts of the HUD to strike a balance between a clean screen and having the information you need.
Why Turning The HUD Off Completely Is Problematic in Battlefield 6
Turning off the on-screen display in Battlefield 6 makes the game look incredible, and it’s definitely doable for relaxed gameplay. However, playing without a HUD can be tricky in both the multiplayer and single-player campaigns, largely because there’s no easy way to bring it back up when you need it.
Campaign Issues With The HUD Off
You can play much of the game without the heads-up display (HUD), particularly when following your squad leader and using standard weapons. However, the game sometimes requires you to press a specific button or stand in a certain place to progress, and it’s impossible to know this without the HUD visible.
A good example of this happens right at the start of the first mission. If you get stuck before the stairs and don’t have the HUD visible, you need to press the interact button to get a teammate’s attention and signal them to move forward.
Okay, so when I’m flying drones or driving vehicles in the game, I found I was getting totally turned around without the heads-up display. Seriously, it’s way easier to manage those missions if you just turn the HUD back on. It makes a huge difference!
Multiplayer Issues With The HUD Off
You can also play multiplayer without the heads-up display, but sometimes players will hinder their team and be at a disadvantage. Here are some of the problems that can occur:
- Not knowing where the objectives are.
- Not taking advantage of spotted enemies.
- Confusion over allies and enemies.
- Controlling tanks and flying planes.
