247 Out of 457 X and Y Pokemon Are Missing from Legends: Z-A’s Pokedex

The Pokedex in *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* is a central part of the game, and fans expected a lot after *Pokemon X and Y* featured a huge 457 Pokemon to discover. While *Legends: Z-A* offers a solid 234 Pokemon to catch, it doesn’t quite reach the scale of the previous Kalos games. Some Pokemon from Generation 6 are missing, though a few new additions have been included to balance things out.

This Pokedex heavily features Mega Evolution, including most Pokemon that can Mega Evolve, with a few exceptions like the Hoenn starters, Latios, Latias, and Rayquaza. Luckily, *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* also makes Furfrou and the elemental monkeys available on the Switch, after they were only accessible on the 3DS for a long time. It’s also worth mentioning that the game includes three different sets of starter Pokemon: those from *Legends: Z-A*, the original Kalos starters, and the Kanto starters.

The Hoenn starters are leaked to be included with the Mega Dimensions DLC.

Similar to how PokΓ©mon from *X and Y* returned, the new PokΓ©mon added to the *PokΓ©mon Legends: Z-A* PokΓ©dex mainly feature new Mega Evolutions, such as Eelektross, Excadrill, and Froslass. Some PokΓ©mon, like Falinks and Drampa, are getting Mega Evolutions for the first time and weren’t originally in the Kalos region’s PokΓ©dex because they were introduced in later games. Other Mega Evolutions, like those for Camerupt and Lopunny, were absent from the original Kalos PokΓ©dex but could be found in *PokΓ©mon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire*.

The Mega Dimension DLC will bring back several previously unavailable PokΓ©mon, such as Jigglypuff, Zubat, and Golurk and their evolutionary lines.

So, I’ve been thinking about *Pokemon Legends: Z-A*, and since it’s all happening inside Lumiose City, it makes sense you can’t catch *every* Pokemon from Kalos. But it’s still weird not seeing some of them! Like, Rhyhorn was a rideable Pokemon in *X and Y*, so why isn’t it here? And it’s strange to not find Pokemon that are usually in *every* game, like Geodude and Zubat. I guess they also cut a lot of the Water-types because Lumiose City doesn’t have as many places for them to live, which makes sense, but is still a little disappointing.

Popular PokΓ©mon like Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres would be great additions to the Mega Dimension DLC for *Legends: Z-A*. However, it’s unlikely the DLC will include enough PokΓ©mon to fully complete the original Kalos region PokΓ©dex. This means some players might be disappointed with how many PokΓ©mon are ultimately available.
