As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Dead Cells has been one of the most captivating and challenging roguelike games I’ve ever played since its launch in 2018. It quickly became a staple in my gaming rotation, offering an exhilarating blend of fast-paced combat, intricate level design, and an ever-evolving gameplay experience through updates and expansions.

Introduced in 2018, “Dead Cells” swiftly gained recognition among roguelike enthusiasts worldwide, and now, six years on, the game developed by Motion Twin and Evil Empire will unveil its last set of new content with Update 35, scheduled for August 19. This news won’t be unexpected to those who learned in February that “Dead Cells” would no longer receive additional updates, but it nonetheless signals the conclusion of a prosperous and extended chapter.

Over the course of several years, the game “Dead Cells” has been consistently updated with new content and expansions, both free and paid, ensuring that players always have something fresh to experience. It originally debuted on PC following a successful stint in Steam Early Access, and later became available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PS4. The rapid-paced combat and high level of difficulty in “Dead Cells,” developed by Motion Twin, propelled it to become one of the most highly regarded action roguelike games during its era.

In the beginning of this year, the developers declared that they wouldn’t be offering any more updates for the game Dead Cells. On the game’s Steam Support page, Motion Twin stated that Update 35 would be their last one, which will also include mobile device compatibility. The well-established independent studio expressed heartfelt thanks to its loyal fanbase but assured players that even though they won’t provide updates for the game anymore, Dead Cells will live on in various forms, such as a board game adaptation and an animated series currently under development. Known as “The End is Near,” Update 35 has been confirmed as the final update and is set to be released to all players on August 19.

Dead Cells Final Update Will Arrive On August 19

As a dedicated fan of Dead Cells, I’m thrilled to announce that in just three weeks, on August 19, Motion Twin will be releasing The End update! This final free expansion packs a punch with three fresh Curse additions and Anathema, a powerful AOE damage ability that comes at the cost of a nasty curse.

In this somber moment for the passionate community of a particular game, their artistic abilities seem unfaltering and continue to shine brightly. A devotee of “Dead Cells” expressed their deep affection for the game by unveiling an awe-inspiring colored pencil artwork depicting the main character, The Beheaded.
