Among the various sights you may encounter as you stroll through the gardens in this farm simulation game is an ancient statue of an Old Man, surrounded by a set of stone blocks. It’s natural to be curious about what lies within these blocks, and you might find yourself asking how to gain access to them first.
Where to Find the Old Gardener Statue in The Garden Path
The Statue of the Elderly Gardener is situated to your left if you’re facing the Community Center. You should be able to spot it at the red marker in the Northern Gardens area, as shown on the map below. For future reference, it might be helpful to bookmark this location using the provided pin.
How to Get the Encyclopedia in the Garden Path
To obtain the Encyclopedia hidden among the enigmatic rocks near the antique Gardener statue, follow these steps: Initially, locate Thom, a nomadic Non-Player Character (NPC), who roams the map. Thom offers Garden Path seeds and presents you with various tasks to accomplish.
In this charming indie game, I pick up the enigmatic letter that’s been with me since the beginning. This mysterious note instructs me to head back to the Old Gardener statue. Upon approaching and interacting with the statue, I receive the second half of the letter. Once I’ve assembled the complete note, I hand it over to Thom. He then tasks me with finding ten more pages scattered around. These pages can be discovered by tapping on trees or looking closely for a subtle star symbol that indicates they can be interacted with in this game. So, I’m off to explore, either walking up to each tree to see if I can tap it, or searching carefully for those faint stars on the tree trunks!
As a gamer, I’ve discovered that if I own a shovel (which can be bought from Augustus in The Garden Path), I can use it to dig up marked circles of white on the ground. Sometimes, there are pages hidden inside these circles too. However, if I’ve already collected some pages from trees or by digging earlier, those won’t count towards the total of 10 pages. Instead, you need to gather them only after delivering a completed note to Thom.
After collecting 10 additional star pages, head back to Thom who will task you with planting a Memory Seed. Upon completion, you will earn badges for both the New and Old Gardeners in your starmap. To view these stars in a list format, simply press the X button within the star menu. Once there, scroll up to find the New Gardener and Old Gardener stars, then link them together by pressing E to create a constellation named The Root.
Approach the stones near the Old Gardener statue and opt for “Set a Navigation Stone.” You can create these Navigation Stones by joining two Navigation Stone Shards together, and you should have accumulated several of these by now; you receive them as rewards for trying out something novel, such as meeting a new character, fishing for the first time, or freeing a fish’s melody. Place one of your Navigation Stones on the initial stone to acquire the Encyclopedia.
