Microsoft & Activision Form New Team Under Blizzard For Smaller Games

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the prospect of smaller, more accessible games based on beloved franchises like Overwatch, Warcraft, and StarCraft coming from a new team within Blizzard. With veterans from King, known for their mobile gaming prowess, joining the fray, it seems we’re in for a treat!


As per a recent report by Jez Corden through Windows Central, Microsoft and Activision have established a dedicated team within Blizzard for developing smaller games.

As a gamer, I’m excited to be part of a team that’s rumored to be developing new AA games within the expansive universes of Overwatch, Warcraft, StarCraft, and even more iconic Blizzard franchises!

Lately, it’s been observed that long-time King staff members have started listing Blizzard on their LinkedIn accounts. According to Corden’s sources, the upcoming team at Blizzard is expected to primarily consist of employees who were previously with King.

According to Corden, the new Blizzard team may be aligned with Xbox’s mobile strategies due to King’s past mobile expertise.

Currently, there hasn’t been any formal disclosure about the composition of the new team or their upcoming ventures from the studios.

Starting from February 2024, Activision and Blizzard games started becoming available on Xbox Game Pass, commencing with Diablo IV. Coincidentally, Blizzard appointed Johanna Faries as its new president in January, who previously worked at Activision.
