Many survival-horror fans are hoping for a fourth Dead Space game. Glen Schofield, the creator of the original Dead Space, wasn’t involved in the sequels, but he’s expressed interest in returning to the series and making another terrifying installment.
Almost a year ago, a developer revealed that Electronic Arts rejected plans for a fourth Dead Space game. Many believe the recent Dead Space remake didn’t sell as well as Krafton had hoped, which is probably why there’s been no news about a second remake or a new game. Despite this, the developer has repeatedly said he still wants to create another terrifying Dead Space experience.
Glen Schofield Wants To Make Dead Space 4
Schofield declared in an interview with IGN:
I have several ideas I’m eager to pursue, and one of them is a fourth installment in the Dead Space series. With Electronic Arts recently being acquired, I believe there’s a good chance we can make it happen, and I’ve already started reaching out to people about it.
He talked again about his visit to Electronic Arts, as we discussed earlier, and strongly emphasized that EA appears to have lost interest in continuing the Dead Space series.
I recently pitched an idea to EA, but they weren’t interested. I offered to bring back the original team and use models from EA Motive, the studio behind the Dead Space remake, which I estimated could save them $30 to $40 million. However, they still declined.
The person who created Dead Space thinks the $55 billion acquisition of EA might bring positive changes, specifically the possibility of someone new acquiring the rights to the Dead Space franchise.
Following the successful 2023 remake of Dead Space, EA inquired about fan interest in remaking other games in the series. Currently, those plans seem to be paused. What would you prefer: a remake of Dead Space 2, or a completely new Dead Space 4 – the sequel many have been hoping for? Let us know what you think on the TopMob Discord!
Glen Schofield, who used to direct the Call of Duty series, has recently shared his opinion that the games released since his departure haven’t been particularly strong.
