Xbox Confirms That Mobile Store Testing Has Begun

As an avid gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and impatience upon hearing about the impending arrival of the Xbox Mobile Store. It seems like every time we get a glimpse of progress, there’s another delay. But hey, that’s gaming life for you – always waiting, always hoping!

Based on a recent article by Tom Warren, it’s been disclosed to The Verge that Microsoft is currently conducting tests for the upcoming Xbox mobile app store.

According to reports, Kari Perez, who heads Xbox communications, announced that trials for a web-based mobile marketplace are now underway. Furthermore, she mentioned that things are moving smoothly and there will be more updates to come later on.

Additionally, Warren referenced a recent post by Klobrille, where he highlighted an interesting message shared within the Xbox Insiders group earlier in the week.

The announcement stated that the Xbox Mobile Marketplace will be available shortly, and it also highlighted test groups who are part of a trial phase.

The Xbox Mobile Marketplace indicates that a new feature will be arriving shortly. It seems likely that Xbox Insiders will have early access to this update.

By May 2024, Xbox President Sarah Bond unveiled the eagerly awaited mobile store, setting a launch window for the summer months. However, as July concluded, the much-anticipated mobile store was conspicuously missing from our screens.

Pedro didn’t provide additional information regarding the reason behind the delay or a specific date for future updates.

At the initial unveiling of Bond, Microsoft (Xbox) revealed that their mobile marketplace would initially offer a collection of their own games, known as the first-party library. This means that well-known games such as Minecraft will likely be among the first titles available on this platform when it launches.

Bond added that “we’ll begin our venture online,” as this platform is “universally available on every device, in every nation.”

Xbox is gearing up to present its largest exhibition ever at Gamescom 2024, showcasing more than 50 games during the event.
