The upcoming Woolhaven DLC for *Cult of the Lamb* will add farming elements, letting players raise animals like in *Stardew Valley*. However, unlike most farming games, players will also be able to slaughter those animals. This blend of cute and unsettling themes is a key part of what made *Cult of the Lamb* so popular – pairing adorable visuals with a dark story – and the DLC looks set to continue that trend.
The Woolhaven expansion for *Cult of the Lamb* was revealed in August during the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 stream. The announcement trailer was primarily animated and showed only short glimpses of gameplay—about 15 seconds in total. While the trailer highlighted combat, it also briefly featured The Lamb riding through their camp on a yak-like animal.
Cult of the Lamb DLC Includes Slaughtering Livestock
Farming has always been a part of *Cult of the Lamb*, allowing players to grow things like berries and pumpkins. Now, Devolver Digital has revealed more details: in early 2026, the game will add new animals like cows, snails, and crabs that players can raise on farms built within their camps. You’ll be able to breed and shear these animals for resources, but *Cult of the Lamb* takes things a step further – players can also slaughter them for meat and other items, pushing the farming system beyond what’s typical for the genre.
Getting meat in this game can be tough, especially if you want to avoid dangerous dungeons. While you can get meat by sacrificing your Followers in *Cult of the Lamb*, that usually lowers their loyalty and faith. This new method of getting meat seems similar, but hopefully without those negative consequences.

The new ranching features in Woolhaven appear to build upon the mechanics introduced in the ‘Sins of the Flesh’ update earlier this year, which allowed Followers to reproduce and have offspring with specific traits. While ranching focuses on animals instead of Followers, breeding will be a key part of it. It’s currently unclear if animals will be able to inherit traits like Followers do. True to the spirit of *Cult of the Lamb*, there’s also a heartwarming side – some Followers have been seen cuddling with the baby animals while they rest.
