With Battlefield 6 needing a lot of experience points and having tough challenges, many players—including me—have been using the Portal mode to team up and complete them together. It’s not the perfect solution, as most would prefer to play a private match against bots, but it’s necessary because of constant errors saying the game’s servers are full. The developers at Battlefield Studios know about these problems and have said they’re working on some changes in a recent update to the community.
I think I’ve figured out the direction of the next update for *Battlefield 6*, and it’s likely to involve paid servers. My nephew and I noticed a strange visual glitch right after the recent update. My brother-in-law, a big *Battlefield* fan like his son, was trying to set up a private server on their PlayStation 5 to quickly unlock new items. That’s when we saw the name of a popular server-boosting experience change to a series of numbers, and the options to ‘Browse Servers’ and ‘Host’ combined into a single option: a purchase button.
Battlefield 6 Might Let Players Purchase Server Slots Soon
I’ve been following news about *Battlefield 6* closely, so my family and I were really surprised to see the option to buy a server appear. This was especially confusing because I’d already shared the latest community update with them, and it hadn’t mentioned anything about server purchases. It wasn’t clear what we were even buying – was it access to the Portal feature itself, or the server needed to run it? Unfortunately, the button to purchase didn’t work, no matter how many times we tried.
We went back to the main menu, hoping to find the special experience again and enable the new player-created content feature. However, when we returned to the portal search, it was back to normal, like nothing had changed. I was frustrated I didn’t get a screenshot, but I quickly checked social media and the official *Battlefield* website for any information. So far, I haven’t found anything, but this experience has led my family and me to believe we have an idea of what’s coming next for the game.
It’s probably not a coincidence that we’re now seeing the option to purchase server slots, and we’re hoping it means a change is coming to *Battlefield 6*. Since the game launched, we’ve been frustrated by the “Global Game Quota Exceeded” message and have often suggested bringing back the server browser system from *Battlefield 4*. The brief appearance of the purchase option gives us hope that this might actually happen, though it’s not confirmed yet.
Battlefield 6’s Visual Bug Isn’t a Guarantee of Paid Servers

We’re all excited about the possibility of being able to buy private servers soon, but I want to be realistic about it – and help you be too. While seeing the option within the game is encouraging, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s confirmed. The developers might just be testing different solutions to improve server capacity for *Battlefield 6*. Purchasing a server could be one idea they’re considering, among many others. It’s also possible they tried the idea and decided against it, opting to keep servers exclusively within the Portal mode, and we’re seeing a leftover glitch from that abandoned plan.
Many dedicated fans have long wanted the option to purchase and manage their own servers, so it wouldn’t be shocking if Battlefield Studios adds them soon. It’s important to remember that server capacity isn’t the only problem with Battlefield 6’s Portal mode right now. The recent update focused just as much on making it easier to earn experience points and complete challenges as it did on increasing server capacity. Offering private servers could potentially solve both of these issues at once.
So, BF Studios just dropped a statement about the new patch, and basically, they’re cracking down on XP farms. They said they’re making changes to cut down on those players hogging all the server space. And to help with that, they’re planning to let people *buy* server slots – seems like they want to control who’s online and how. It’s a pretty big shift, and I’m curious to see how it plays out.
No Matter What, Battlefield Studios Is Paying Attention to Server Capacity Issues

The main point is that players shouldn’t have to wait long for tools that simplify creating custom experiences in *Battlefield 6*. This would be a great improvement to an otherwise excellent new system. Based on what I saw during gameplay – specifically a potential purchase option – I have an idea for a solution, but it’s best not to jump to conclusions.
